It's sad to me that GM and Ford abandoned all sedans, Honda Toyota Hyundai Kia or any of the Germans didn't, I know Cadillac still does and is going all Electric soon but I Feel like even those are on Borrowed time , Chevy could of focused on doing one compact sedan and Buick one mid size sedan I mean they do still build for other than the north American market, just my lil rant

Toyota's cancelling the sedan sections too. Same with Mazda. but yes at least the malibu and impala should be retained. no need for buick.

I worked at a Chevy dealer in 2018-2019 when this iteration first came out, it hasn’t changed AT ALL. I liked how it drove back then, especially the 2.0T Premier before the CVT. Crazy how an LT model now is the same price as a new Tesla

GM sedan philosophy is to redesign the Malibu 9 years ago, let it become uncompetitive, and then when the sales get bad discontinue it and then maybe in the future bring it back with a new name as an EV, and when that doesn’t sell discontinue it again

I don't get why GM and Ford decided against sedans when Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, and KIA continue to make their sedans some of the best vehicles around. I recently drove a '24 Malibu 2LT and couldn't believe how much I liked the way it drove. I asked the salesman if I could order one which he started for me, but GM came back and said no leases on the '25 since it's the last model year and they can't predict the residual on a final year build, ok. Two friends of mine own one and love theirs, IDK, maybe GM let this one past the freshness date and let it wither out of competition with the other makes. I forgot how much I enjoy driving a sedan over an suv. Good review, thanks!

In 2009 I bought a new malibu then in 2018 I trade it inn with 190k miles for a new malibu at moment still have it with 110k miles and so far no issues just basic maintenance,good car for the price in my opinion.

The CVT is not bad. I drive a 2022 Malibu, and the car great for city driving and on the highways. If you wanna talk about bad CVT, look at Nissan's.

Actually I've seen them everywhere around where I live in Pennsylvania. And when I was on the Fort Sill in Fort Greg Adams military bases, I saw them everywhere. They are all over the place. Because GM gives a lot of military bonuses so you can get these limited trims on these for like 20 grand same thing with like the traverse and stuff.

I lived one year in AZ and another in Houston, TX and they were everywhere. Even the company that I worked for had them as company cars. They are not spectacular but neither are bad. I think GM should have evolved the Malibu into something like the Buick Envista or called the Equinox EV the Malibu Max.

They sell like hot cakes in NYC especially in The Bronx and Queens. They give out great leasing rates for these so they are all over the place and then people also buy them second hand and start ricing them out which also doesn’t help.

You'll see Malibus everywhere in NC. Especially in the cities. These are great daily drivers, and you can actually get a solid brand new car in under 30K.

I drove a couple of these as rentals last fall, way underpowered. Size was nice, it was comfortable and overall a nice car, except for the engine….which is why it’s probably being discontinued

Elantra is also a sedan made it US and while it's smaller it's much better bang for your buck. The last cars gm made that I really wanted were Saturn cars. Too bad gm killed them before I could afford one. They were solid cars and a lot of Saturn's are still on road in 2024.

What a shame. Now, Chevy will only have SUVs? I have a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 3Lt AWD and love it. The steering is very firm and has a lot of get-up-and-go. It has two electric motors and is very smooth during acceleration. It puts our 2022 Lincoln SUV to shame regarding power and noise levels. I would love to see you post a video of the Equinox EV. I really enjoy your channel, and I hope you have a happy and healthy New Year.

Thanks for such a great year. Looking forward to an amazing 2025. The Malibu should be the best built, best selling mid size sedan available in N. America. What happens when profits are put ahead of people. Quality falls off. People loose interest. The ability to produce competitively is gone. America is better than this. Hopefully it will be again in the near future.

GM has a history deleting so called good or well made cars after just a 4 - 8 yr run, going all the way back to the 60s. My last GM car was a Chevy Cobalt SS.

Too bad they discontinued the Premier with the 2.0 Turbo and the 10-speed transmission. It went away in 2022. Sticker was 34k for quite a loaded model. 100 more HP and a geared transmission changes everything. A real sleeper if there ever was one. Nobody notices until they are passed by one. Chevy blew that one by never promoting this version to performance-oriented folks.

this is the 2nd time the malibu was discontinued the first being 1983 oh and GM hasn't announced 4th Quarter 2024 sales yet though through Sept the Malibu sold 94,000 units in the US placing it in the top 10 for midsized sedans top 3 are Toyota Camry 283,000 through Nov Honda Accord 148,000 making Tesla Model 3 #3 with 102,000 sales through Nov malibu is 4th with 94,000 and Hyudai Sonata is 5th with 62,000
