I am like a kid on Christmas when I see a new flip through video! The shared readers in level 2 were a great tool for us but we finished them before the year was half over. Love that there are 4 of them for level 3! The advancements in reading that my son had with level 2 made me excited to do the next level.

I’m so excited about this new curriculum! I just made the switch to TGATB and did a crazy thing! I made a decision to bring both my 10 yo and my 8yo to level 2. I brought my 6yo to Level K. This proved to be a great decision since we are trying the curriculum for the first time after never using a specific curriculum but various forms of learning. My children are excited about learning and look forward to learning. I am excited to try the new level 3 Lord willing.

We just finished level 3 today with my 3rd grader! This update looks excellent. Something he struggled with was the journal entries. We had lots of tears despite my extended help for him. The new scaffolding to ease into the writing assignments here seems really helpful. I have an upcoming 2nd grader as well so Iook forward to this in a year.

This looks so good! 🎉 I can't wait to try it this coming year. We are currently using the new level 2 and my daughter is absolutely loving it! One suggestion I have is to create a optional blend book to go along with the lower levels. Perhaps something similar to abeka's blend ladders. I love TGATB LA but I think adding a little drill/practice work really has helped my child learn to blend and take off with their reading in those early years.

My kiddo is finishing unit 2 review this week of level 3. This happened to us last year with level 2. He did so well switching I don’t think we would lose out anything by switching again. About how long would you expect a daily lesson to take? We are coming from no formal language arts lessons (other than phonics) and I would love to know how time intensive this would be.

Hi Victoria! Thank you for reaching out to us! There is no set time for the Language Arts lessons, as each child can vary significantly. Parents should not feel that they have to finish an entire lesson in a day or complete only one lesson in a day. That being said, a very general guide may be 30-60 minutes for lessons plus added time for personal reading. You can also set an amount of time that fits your homeschool schedule and work with your child on Language Arts for that specific amount of time. You may cover part of the lesson or be able to do more than one lesson, depending on the content and how quickly your child moves through the lesson. We hope this helps and that you enjoy the course!

Hi Kristin! No, we would not suggest using the read-together books from Level 3 while completing Level 2. The Phonics Read-Together Books are correlated with the curriculum. Activities that coordinate with the course include completing a book report, book discussions together, and more. For those who finish the Booster C Cards before completing the Level 2 course book, we suggest spending the extra time doing the following: 1) having the child independently read books on his or her level 2) reading with the child any book from The Good and the Beautiful Book List that is one level higher than the reading level the child tests at, switching off every other page. How is the spelling section different than the level 4 course? Spelling is my son’s brick wall in public school and he just finished Gr 4. I plan to homeschool him over the summer to help him get up to grade level. I haven’t 100% decided what our plan will be come fall. Praying for God to shed light on this decision.

Hi there! Levels 3 and 4 both include a well-designed spelling program with a scope and sequence including spelling rules, spelling principles, spelling patterns, and commonly misspelled and rule breaker words. Just as each concept and skill in Language Arts is built upon in each level, the same is with the spelling rules and words so Level 4 spelling is of a higher difficulty compared to Level 3. The spelling practice book in Level 3 is not only fun, but also effective as it teaches children to segment words, use spelling patterns, and practice spelling rules through varied activities and sentence dictation. The Spelling & Writing Workshops book in Level 4 includes short, effective student-led lessons with varied exercises to improve spelling and writing skills. Be sure to take a look at the extensive samples and/or free pdf downloads to see exactly what’s in each course and if our curriculum is the right fit for your family. We hope this helps!

Thank you for your question! As we have created new editions of language arts, including Level 3, we have aligned the instruction methods and layouts more toward grade level. The writing in our previous edition was introduced in a much more difficult way so you will note that the writing instruction has been greatly improved in presentation at the level appropriate for this age. We are also focusing the lower levels more on reading, writing, and spelling. Many concepts are still considered advanced but they are introduced in lessons that are easier to follow for both the child (in the self-guided levels) and the parent (in levels 3 and under). We now save some of the more complex grammar concepts for higher levels, but grammar is still covered thoroughly. Our courses have increased, rather than decreased, in how thorough and rigorous they are for children as there is more learning woven into each and every lesson. We hope that helps!

Any courses that do not have a future date will not be replaced in the next 5-10 years. Preschool: A new edition of our Preschool Course (which replaced our Pre-K Language Arts course) released on August 30, 2021. Kindergarten Prep: Kindergarten Prep (which replaced our Level K Primer course) was released on April 19, 2022. Level K: A new edition was released on June 7, 2022. Level 1: A new edition was released on June 14, 2022. Level 2: A new edition was released on July 12, 2022. Level 3: A new edition will be released in June 2023. Level 4: A new edition of Level 4 was released on October 12, 2020. Level 5: A new edition of Level 5 Language Arts was released on March 8, 2022. Levels 6 and 7: We plan to release new editions of these levels in 2025. High School LA Courses: We do not have plans to revise these courses. We will not be releasing any more high school classes in 2022 or 2023. We hope this helps!

I'm not a fan of the tiny spelling book. I can only imagine how uncomfortable and awkward it is to write in it. Wish it was at least double the size. Otherwise, I'm super excited.

@The Good and the Beautiful we will definitely purchase the whole course next year and I hope my child won't mind the size of the spelling book and will be able to easily write in it. My concern might be totally unfounded. It was just something that stood out to me. Thank you for all you do! We love TGTB!

So I just bought the old level 3 for next year but now I think this update would be better . If I knew I would have waited. Kinda sad 🫠
