I got a 23/24 Dancehall for $350 a couple weeks ago. This is the first snowboard I ever bought and I leaned HEAVILY on your reviews to make my decision. I couldn’t be happier!!! What a great board. I’m 49 and a lifelong surfer from Hawai’i so I’d describe myself as a rapidly progressing beginner who tries a lot of things that are way above my experience level, so I crash a lot, but the first time I went on a snowboarding bachelor party trip, I was easily cruising blues at Heavenly by the 2nd day. I’m 5’11” 185-190 sz 11.5 boots and I got the Dancehall in a 154. The other rentals and borrowed boards were 159-162 range. I LOVE the flex of the dancehall! I also live in a very rural area at 10k feet in Colorado and so I have access to lots of low and steep angle powder around my house. My kids are learning and we’re starting to set up little jumps in the yard and maybe some small rail features. I’m also trying to learn ground tricks and this board feels AWESOME for all of that. It feels very quick and nimble in the trees too. I don’t have much to compare it to, but that’s my take so far. Eventually I may add something like a U.S. Cadet in 162 or a Jones Stratos in 161W but that’s probably at least a year away. THANK YOU JAMES 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 12 күн бұрын
It doesn't rank on this list and didn't make it this year but did in the past. Its a very good board though and if you want something like the Orca but with a more mellow flex in the center and a faster base it could work for you.

I've got a rome service dog for party/powder riding. ~200lbs size 10.5 boot. I am looking for another board to complement this one, specifically something a little more twin (preferably still directional) that's stronger on some steeper terrain/variable terrain that still has the pop for some larger jumps/side hits. What would you suggest?

Need Height to know for sure (need all three). Need a lot more info to properly help but based on the info I have maybe the Stale Crewzer would be good or Warden for the similar price point. Not a chill board like Rome Says. Watch my review. Almost full camber and very energetic. Maybe something like the Nitro Alternator could work. If you want to get into it more, hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

If you are wide you gotta go Ride wide short and fat boards. If you want bang for buck and only want to Ride a few days? as a beginner get a wide Rossignol board.
@thegoodridesnow

Rossignol does not make boards that fit size 14's. Please be careful reccomending boards without seriously considering boot size. Especially 14's.
@dootdoot1867
@dootdoot1867 Ай бұрын
@@thegoodridesnow A Size 14 US boot is 30.2CM. By Rossignol's size guide on their web page that would give quite a few options. The "District 161 wide, Evader 165 Wide(Usually District and Evader are great options for beginners), There are quite a few. All the Sushi's and Sashimi's are some of the widest boards on the market. But would never recommend to a Beginner. The 169 XV Wide is pretty legendary for the amount of board you get.
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Ай бұрын
Not true. Rossi is best for 12 and under. I've tested with riders with 14's. You seem to be going on specs. Sashimi's are not the widest board on the market. Tail/back foot is very narrow. You cant measure by waist with tapered boards. XV is not wide enough for 14's either.

You want to feel like you're about 50% better than you actually are, orca. It's fun in everything except rockhard ice and slush. It's sketchy but acceptable on ice, but it's a limp noodle when the is wet and slushy. I haven't rode the Biru that's my take after a couple years with the orca.

Sorry @ELROY-y1f I didn't see this question. Slammed this time of year. Both are great boards. I like the Biru for carving and going harder and it has a faster base. I like the Backslash for a little more mellow/slashy/a little shorter/wider playful ride. Both have lots of overlap and are super fun doing a little of everything and have similar float in pow so go with the one that appeals to you more.
