I've been through A LOT of bikes coming in and out of my collection, though I only really have room for 6 at a time, so when I get a new one an old one has to go. With that said, I've leaned toward the older bikes more than the newer ones, around 2017-2019, and I almost got it curated to what I really want. I've pretty much stopped getting anything new and actually reverting back to models that I loved in the past, that needed to go because of space, but I didn't realize how much I liked them until they were gone. My collection covers a lot of different setups as well. I have mechanical and electronic; rim and disc; Shimano, SRAM, and Campy; road and gravel; 1x and 2x; carbon, steel, and titanium. My latest model is a 2023 Pinarello F that is Shimano Di2/disc brake. The one I gravitate to most is a 2018 Giant TCR Maglia Rosa Edition that is SRAM Red mech/rim brake. My fave, which was my dream bike, is a 2017 Bianchi Oltre XR4 that is full Campy Record EPS/rim brake. But the one I absolutely love riding is a custom steel 2022 Speedvagen Rugged Road that is SRAM Force AXS/disc brake on 32c tires. It's not my lightest or fastest bike but it fits like a glove and is the most comfortable, smooth ride, plus it'll get up to speed. For me, I think cycling has peaked and what comes out now is all gimmicks and marketing.

This is probably the most beautiful collection I`ve seen. Or at least the one that aligns most with my taste. The Pinella and the V3RS look outstanding. Will you make a video about frame sizes and fitting in the future? I personally struggle a lot when it comes to finding the right frame size as a beginner. Especially because older bikes are sized so different. Love your work! 🙂

Long time cyclist and racer…retired😂. I really want a new bike and really leaning toward the dark star . However, the titanium bike you have recommended and have featured I am very interested in….i want a bike that is more performance driven, does well really with everything and specifically descends with confidence and climbs wonderfully. Price is a point of interest for I want a bike that will be with me till … well forever. I am still riding a custom calfee that I built over a two decades ago. I always said my next bike would be a custom steel but the titanium build out there are so interesting. Also titanium does start with the test of time … not that I don’t take care of my bikes real well! Love your channel! Finally, planning a trip to NC and assault on Mount Mitchell. Ben some years since I have done something like this…. I think I’ll be ready, but I want a bike. I can trust and put a smile on my face when I tackle this goal…at my retired cyclist, pedigree

Really liked this video Luis ! I have been riding a Moots Vamoots CR I bought new in 2012. It has gone through groupsets and wheelsets. Now it has Campy 12 speed rim brake , mechanical with Bora wto 2 way fit wheels. I love this bike and it weighs the same as most carbon disc brake bikes. Hope you get one. ps, I have had carbon Colnago and Treks , but I like this better. For all road I have an All City Cosmic Stallion GRX which looks like it might be very similar to your Cinelli :) Keep the great content coming !

Good stuff. Small thing to say re-Darkstar. I have a hand built BobJackson steel frame with Columbus Carbon fork. Just fits 28 on rear and on front just too tight… I bonded 2 mm aluminium into aluminium fork tips,carefully filed and profiled and now takes 28 mm tyre on front with same brake clearance as rear ( I do Carbon frame repairs and so have good quality epoxy)
@thegoodwheel18 күн бұрын
I did look at some inserts, but I was concerned about alignment and wobbles. 👍🏾

Hi Luis, I been watching your channel for a while and really enjoy the content. This video relates to me as I am a road bike collector with eight ready to roll bikes at any given time. My fleet ranges from steel, titanium aluminum and one carbon all of which are older rim brake with period correct components and wheels with the exception of the carbon with disc. The troubles with all this are the storage but I have a handle on that. Anyway, I do show to the group ride and often get asked how many bikes you have. Is this a good feeling or am I just bragging? I will say this fleet is a result of bikes I wish I could afford in my younger years. Now being retired I guess it's a passion that I have time and effort to enjoy. Keep collecting and ride on.

I really like the Pinella and the Darkstar because steel rides and feels unlike anything else. Columbus Spirit is an evolution of Foco and Nemo to a higher level. One exquisite titanium brand that produces exquisite titanium frames is Passoni who makes their own tubing, you should give it a try. I think I know why your Cinelli is heavier than expected, it is a MTB roadized frame. If it was made of Columbus Nemo tubing which I thought it was, it would be in 1800gr-1900gr. The lightest steel made by Columbus was Genius 1600gr for a frame. Dedacciai DR Zero is also a phenomenal tubing.
@thegoodwheel18 күн бұрын
Thanks George. Yeah, there is something funky with the tubbing. It's a shame they list it this way.
@reginaldscot16520 күн бұрын
The Moots are great bikes, but Litespeed are cheaper and more advanced. Better tube shaping ability, lighter, OG name in titanium bikes, only ti bike brand to win TDF stages, only bike manufacturer to have their parts on the Mars rover… I could go on but I’m becoming a nuisance. 😁

Any thoughts of a custom paint job for the DarkStar like your previous favorite the Pinella had? I think the Pinella got a custom paint scheme because you had to rebuild the frame before being able to build the bike, but sometimes you just gotta do something extra for the favorite.

I ride fixed gear right now but I've been looking into getting a geared steel bike with carbon wheels like that. I'm still not sure if I just want throw a perfect set of HED wheels on there or go carbon. So many decisions to make, still not sure what I want.

By most measures, frames made out of Spirit tubing come in between 1600 and 1900 grams in size medium. Even they claim 2000 grams for this size on their website. That this frame weighs 2250 has nothing to do with the anticipated or actual weight of the rider. If their intent is to overbuild the bike according to your premise, they should say that. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
