I just passed Level 2! Trying to decide whether to keep going.

You should. I left a gap of almost one year between level 2 and 3. I'm glad I did as I got to take a break and learn some more, before studying again.

Thank you for your great content. Wish I had found you earlier! I test for W3 end of April. I'm doing the online course. I'm most concerned with the short answer section, which is sometimes referred to as essay questions which are 2 different things in my mind. Can you please go in a little deeper on this part of the exam, and if you have and I missed it, let me know what episode. Thank you in advance....

Thanks. Very kind words. Yes I have a video on this it's called WSET Short Answer questions. I released it in Nov last year. Cheers.

Taking my Level 3 in September in Italy. I know I have enough time to study, but it’s still quite nerve racking thinking about the level of detail we’re expected to go into!

Thanks for the comment. I agree it's a lot to take in. I have a video on Study tips that may be of use to you. Good luck with all the revision.

Oof. I just transferred my enrolment from Lvl2 to the ‘novice to professional’ course that is designed to go from 0 to Lvl 3... in only two weeks. I’m expecting a blistering pace, having watched your video. Feeling the knots in my stomach already but I’m prepared to put in the study. Not sure how I’ll go - I’ve never done formal wine education, but have visited a few wine regions around the world and attended quite a few tasting expos and Masterclasses. Definitely not an accomplished taster or wine theory expert (yet!) though. The course is at the end of June so may not get my results til the end of August. I’ll try and keep you updated :) Send all the good vibes, pls. Haha.

Passed WSET 2 in June of this year (2018). Passed with "merit". Took a Level 3 practice exam offered on-line 2 weeks back with no additional training to benchmark myself in prep for Level 3. Scored 50%. How well suited do you think I am to take Level 3 and pass?
@TheGrapeExplorer6 жыл бұрын
If you managed 50% on the first go Is say that's a good start and you have to remember that the exam isn't just a multiple choice exam. If you feel your tasting skills are strong enough to identify the key characteristics of two wines then I say go for it!!! Best of Luck!

Hi i just got passed wset level 2 with distinction because of your informative video, any books you reccomend that may help me to get confidence taking wset level 3 thanks..
@TheGrapeExplorer6 жыл бұрын
Congratulations. That's great to hear. If you're thinking of moving onto Level 3 it would be a good idea to get a comprehensive book such as The Oxford Companion to Wine. Its a big book will cover everything you could ever need.

Is the practice done in class enough for wine tasting or should I practice it by myself before enrolling in for wset 3
@TheGrapeExplorer3 жыл бұрын
Yes there is plenty on class and of you can keep tasting outside of the classroom too. It will help you more.

May I ask after completing your WSET course , what career you opted and how you are placed professionaly and financially. I mean does it provide good career opportunity. Thanks for reply, I am also planning as cannot travel London due to COVID, but online i shall opt.

Hi there. All of my wine education has been a hobby rather than for work. I know lots of people who successfully work in the wine industry with the qualifications they have across a broad range of roles. Thanks for watching.

I'm considering going directly for Level 3, do you think it's be possible to pass for the entry exam just preparing by myself - reading the Level 2 textbook? What other resources you would recommend?
@TheGrapeExplorer5 жыл бұрын
Lots of people go straight to three if they feel comfortable. Having done 2 & 3 I can tell you that there is a big leap in terms of required knowledge. As for other resources, I have a copy of the Oxford Wine Companion which is very thorough. Best wishes for the studies.
@tcarroll16055 жыл бұрын
Where is the entry exam he mentions (in the 1st minute) that tells you if you are ready for level 3?
@TheGrapeExplorer5 жыл бұрын
If you do not hold the level 2 qualification, but have obtained the relevant knowledge and experience, you are eligible to gain entry through successful completion of an online entry test. Check the WSET website for more details.

Would you recommend the online course?
@TheGrapeExplorer5 жыл бұрын
I would recommend it as long as you are comfortable learning alone. Personally I like the classroom setting and having a teacher in front of me. Don't forget you'll also need to be buying plenty of wine at home for tasting samples.
