What is the best erasable marker on dark fabric?? I might have discovered something...

I found that a small sliver of soap is acceptable for marking plus completely washable. A great use of that Itty bitty piece that usually gets tossed away. Thanks for all your research.

This video was super helpful! I like to use the heat erasable pens for drawing the patterns but I didn’t know you could wash them off! I also am very interested in the mechanical chalk pencil. I like to draw my grid with something light and easy to remove and then trace the pattern with something very durable but now I will be washing my marks away! Thank you.

I’m glad that it was not only me who didn’t know that you could wash off the ink😅 The mechanical pencil is actually great. The lead is very strong and it doesn’t break off. I felt it would be great for drawing for intricate embroidery. I need to try and understand more how to remove marks more efficiently though.

Thank you for the comparison! I've tried heat markers and my biggest complaint was that the ink stays in the fabric and just turns "clear" - the colour will come back if you go out in the winter time, or if you ship the fabrics in a non-temperature-controlled shipping (you can test it by putting the fabric in the freezer; the colour comes back and you have to iron again!). It's good to know that the marks will wash out before ironing! (I tried to wash out after ironing and the package is correct, the iron sets the ink so it's very hard to get it out after that...)

I have received many comments about this problem in the past! I have been using Frixion pens which don’t come with instructions so I really didn’t know you could wash it off😅 I have only tried it for this video and I don’t know if you can wash off completely from any materials, but it’s still a good discovery👍

Very useful video. I always found those powdered chalk markers to be too fiddly to use, and they clump up if any moisture gets into the pen.
