I did a quick melt today for my 100th video...
I made Nordic Gold which is 89% Copper, 5% Zinc, 5% Aluminum, and 1% Tin. I stripped some copper wire and used some scrap copper pieces for the copper portion, some zinc scraps from previous melts, some aluminum scraps from previous melts, and some tin that I had previously purchased just for making Nordic Gold.
I hydrated about 100,000 Orbeez, melted the metal alloy, and poured it into the Orbeez.
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did making it!

I hope you all are doing well, and I hope you enjoyed this short but sweet melt. This is the 100th video of The Growing Stack! Since I started this little idea I had of wanting to melt metal and share my experience with the world, I guess I never really thought I would see this day. While it’s nothing truly special, it’s definitely a hallmark for me to realize what I’ve made and a launchpad to see how far I can grow it. I love you all, thank you for everything so far, and here’s to the next 100! 🎉🍻🥂

Love these!!!!!! always nice to see a new video from you. an interesting idea I have is to 3D print a like 5x8 rectangle that is like 6mm thick or so, then in the middle of it have a raised logo of a band or a jolly roger. Kind of like a little metal flag. I figure you might be able to cast it easier than a mold casting.

Dude, I came up with another idea for a mold casting. You could do 3 medals like the Olympics. If you can 3D print them. You could use Nordic Gold, Aluminum Bronze, and some form of silver for the other one. Just a suggestion but the idea of Olympic inspired coins or medals would be cool.

Could be interesting casting the same into a bucket of ball bearings. No water-orbeez trapped inside, still a nice color contrast.

Those always look so cool. They kind of remind me of the ones done by guys who pour aluminum into ant beds. What I don't understand is why the Orbeez don't melt? burn up? Yeah, I know there's water in them, but melted metal is a heck of a lot hotter than the water. Anyway, great video!

I really like how it looks when the orbeez are still inside it. Like little gems! I wonder if there's some way to stabilize them so they won't shrink. Maybe casting in resin? Is that possible with orbeez?

@@zazz69ed thank you brother! I’m good, trying to stay cool, but Arizona is brutal this time of year. Yeah, the ones that get stuck dehydrate and fall out(especially in this environment) and the sculpture is left perfect. Glad to hear from you and I hope all is well with you!!

Since the melting temperature of zinc and tin is so much lower than copper, how does it not vaporize before the copper melts. Always wondered.

My main issue with orbeez is I don't understand what they're for XD Like what do you do with them now?
@TheGrowingStack
@TheGrowingStack 25 күн бұрын
You can drain all of the water and let them dehydrate and they shrink back down. Im not sure how many times they can repeat that process though.

I wish they weren’t, but life gets in my melting way more than I’d like it to. Believe me, I’m trying my best to do what I love and make more melting content as much and as consistently as I can, but sometimes work and “life” derails me from what I want to do weekly. I am working on it though I promise. Thank you for sticking with me!!
