Being a rebel myself at a very young age in a remote Arab country against religion and the oppression of women , I started questioning myself if I was alright! But once I stumbled over a couple of Dr Nawal’s books at the age of 15 I knew I was in the right track and I never doubted my rebellious nature again. RIP my idol and my hero.

I am an Egyptian man and I am for 100% equal rights for women. Women should uncover their heads and live like men. Why do they have to be below us in any way? A woman can be the money maker in the family while the father stays with the kids. A woman should even be able to be president. Why do I have to wait another 50 years to see my sister live an equal life to mine? Thank goodness we live in a bubble.... I don't know how it would be otherwise. @maachilosa Um in the video they are not talking about male circumcision, she is talking about female circumcision which is not part of Jewish or Islamic tradition or beliefs. It is a purely an east african tradition and that is why it does not happen in the vast majority of the Middle East - it was spread to countries like Oman and Yemen because of their Afro-Arabian infusion.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Number 5251) All Islamic Schools of thought agree with Female Circumcision FGM - Sunni School - Hanafi: Good but not taught Maliki: Recommended Hanbali: Recommended Shafi: Obligatory Shia: Recommended but slowly abandoned and abolished

in Islam the prophet Mohmmad (PBUH) never said to circimsize the females. nor is it in the quran anywhere but she makes interesting point about the poverty and the social injustice in egypt which without a doubt a reason for egypts retardation today. but i don''t think its fair to blame it on religion, because islam calls for justice and charity to be given the poor, i wish the readers read about islam with unbiased mentality

@TLCTugger look, I can see how men will start propagating circumcision for boys is wrong. The fact is when we talk about female circumcision we should use the correct word, female genital MUTILATION. In the case of boys a skin is cut, in the case of females an entire organ or several are cut. THe difference is as if you cut the fingernail too short so that it bleeds and hurts and can get infected, or that you cut the entire finger, or parts of the hand. THAT's the difference, please respect.

You are 100% right in the part of circumcised girls but why you are mixing it with Religion. I believe that our families used to do such wrong thing not for religion purposes but it was a phenomena and traditional habit. ISLAM Religion has nothing to do with that, and even people who are misusing it,then it's their fault not the Religion's fault. @LoonyInSpace its true what you say, but what she means is that people who practise circumcision abuse religion to justify things like circumcision. circumcision mostly happens in Islamic, jewish and a little apparently in christian (depending from the country) culture. I think if we want to make a change in this we have to make religion a part of it. make people realize god/allah made us just the way he wanted. let people think and see the truth, what is right and wrong and mutilation is wrong.
