After a long battle for her health, today she collects her A-level results in maths and textiles. Kate is one of a small but growing number attending 'virtual schools' - using online, real-time teaching. Nisai, in Stockton-on-Tees, is one of the companies trying to introduce the concept to the UK, but funding is scarce

The classroom environment adds something. When I revised for my exams, I'd go to school as I worked better there than at home.

7 years late to reply, but I think it depends on the person; I personally get very drained in classrooms whether at home I can study for hours!

The thing is, you did something you didn't have to do, and did well! If my illness ever got to the point of being out of school for a set amount of time, I know I wouldn't be bothered to do this!

What if an individual wants to go on the study at a uni and become a doctor? Results quickly become everything; however, I do agree a young person trying to establish themselves shouldn't look to a degree as a sign of success.
