And yeah, a Les Paul and Strat was all I had for about 20 years (still have 'em) and if I had to let go of the others I have picked up over the years they are the 2 I would happily go back to 😀✌

This channel has kept my spirits up, as the last couple of years have been tough. I had to sell all my guitars/amps to keep a roof over my family's heads. Fortunately, life is on the upswing and saving for a guitar/amp. It's amazing what is available today as far as quality/price point, compared to even 10-20 years ago. It's why I appreciate this channel. Here's hoping we all have a fantastic 2023! 😊🎶🎵🎶🎵

Great video as always Colin. My collection at one point reached 15 guitars, then life took a turn I now have 4 and a bass. I’d never picked up a bass until last October and I can’t put it down, I love it! I always say you must have a plan in life, you’re love of guitars any guitarist will understand. Some of us are fortunate to have more than one, some of us are happy with one. Either way what ever makes you smile is how I look at, life’s to short not to enjoy your passion, what ever it is to the fullest. Good luck with the sales, so many great guitars for others to enjoy. ✌️

Great video, Colin! It’s always hard to let go of a guitar you’ve connected with. With the exception of my 2003 Epiphone Elite Les Paul Custom, I consider all my other guitars “rentals”. I love them all, but if something else catches my eye, I’ll usually sell something to buy something else. Like you said, it’s the Circle of Guitars!! Cheers!!

34600 Subscribers! Congrats Colin!👍 Had a similar situation last year. My goal was to collect all the classic Gibson Designs and so I always was on the hunt for Firebirds, Korina Flying V, Korina Explorer, ES 335, ES 339, Les Paul, SG and that without having a KZbin channel🤣 I was succesful in the end. Some surely were Epiphone´s (Korina guitars) - you can imagine why.... And then after a while I realized that I don´t really use most of these guitars and from one day to another I put all the guitars in ebay (Kleinanzeigen here in Germany) to sell, expect my Gibson ES 335 , the 2 Gibson CS Les Pauls, the Bonamassa Signature Goldtop Gibson Studio, the Epi Bonamassa Black Beauty 3PUs and my Strat. Two days later six guitars were sold and now only the guitars I really play are with me. To be honest: some of the money was reinvested in a beautiful Maybach Lester 59 in Aged Faded Teaburst because Gibson R9 in this color and with such a flamed maple top costs horrible money. Like your Eastman´s the Maybach´s are really affordable "original inspired" guitars. Chapter of selling and buying new guitars should be closed for me now, because now I have all I ever wanted - but you know I´m a guitarist🤣 Good luck for your selling and happy hunting for new guitars! Greetings from Germany!😎🎸

'Parting is such sweet sorrow . . . ' Letting go of the Gibsons understandably a bit difficult but seems like the right choice, all things considered. Prices all seem perfectly reasonable to me, Colin, so good luck! I've never bonded with 335's either but that Epiphone with the Monty's will be a real treat for somebody, and the Guild is an absolute steal - lovely guitar!

G'day Colin, Thanks for another great video. Unfortunately, it's a literally week too late. Just last Saturday morning, I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Jnr from a local pawn broker. It's a 2011 version, used & a little dinged up, so I'm not scared of putting it in my gearsack, & taking it out on the back of my bike. But, I love the simplicity of it - just plug it in, & start playing. A week & a half before that, I bought a new Epiphone Les Paul Studio. And it's black.... so very, very black. You'll be pleased to hear that I've learned from your trials & tribulations when I bought it. I made sure that the guitar was still in the box, & I checked the finish before I took the guitar home. I found the Jnr whilst I was looking for a hardcase for the Studio. Also, whilst the Jnr is in the bedroom, the Studio is in the loungeroom, where I can perve on it whenever I sit down to to watch the TV. LOL Also, I have named a couple of my guitars. And I feel that if I'm silly enough to give inanimate objects a name, I can choose the sex of the name without feeling guity. My Squier Tele is called Beatrix, the Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster. My trad 50's Fender Tele is called Lynda, as a tribute to a lost girlfriend. I think that I'll name the Studio Abraxis (if you search Google, you'll find a small portion of the story). Once again, thanks for a great video, & such a fun channel to watch. I'm glad that you're seeing the bright side of a bulk selloff - I just can't bear to part with my guitars. I'm looking forward to next week's show. Keep up the good work Andrew

Really enjoyed the vid and your honesty as a fellow guitar addict 😊. Your right of course, no one wants to sell a guitar unless it's bloody horrible. I'm in my third of fourth 'collection' after having to sell everything many times when eating and heating were more important than playing. I know we've all been there, so your guitar ponzy scheme joke did make me wonder if I'm going to be able to hang on to my little collection (only 14, 15 if you count my double neck as two 😄) this time. Mind you this time I've avoided the big expensive names, gibson/fender, and gone for playable and fun which is the whole point isn't it!? Which means I don't have much of value this time worth selling 😊 good strategy so far, particularly been enjoying the new epiphone LP's and SG's and the dreaded Harley Benton. My favourite guitar at the moment is the HB three pickup SG custom (homage) dc-600 iv I love to see you do a review on it 😊

G'Day Colin from 'Down-under' NZ... Happy and prosperous 2023 ! While listening to you... was thinking a Penny is made round to go round ! Hope your guitars go 'round' as you wish them to... Apart from your comments that are always interesting, for whatever reasons ???? I very much enjoy the moments of 'playing' that you perform when reviewing guitars ... Personally (?) I have never sold a guitar and would not like to have to choose... Luvvv 'em all ! Five Acoustics/electric, including an Archtop Hollowbody 2xff & Three Electrics... ES-339, 'LP', and Strat ...(Did give an EKO 12 string to a friend... That was easy because he made it sing like a songbird and I could not play it) - (Two days & nights we jammed and bashed out tunes and a 'few' beers) ... Could meet him tomorrow and do the two day and nights 'thing' all over again ! That is a 'Mate' ! FYI... I have kept the ESTON (Same Italian Brand) for over 50 years now, "Joined at the hip" (Vintage like me) ... Have a great year and am looking forward to what catches your 'fancy' ???? Good Cheer and Cheers... 🤠 ... (A 'vid' presentation of the TEN Guitars and reasons why (?) you would NOT or could NOT ever part with them would be a good Presentation) !!!!!!!!!! ... 😎 ...

I did the scotchbrite thing on the necks of my Squier 40th Jazzmaster and my Epi Les Paul this week and the results are astonishing! The Squier probably came out better and the lightness of the wood meant that you can’t see it’s been done (you can tell on the red Epi neck) but the feel of both is great, so smooth!!

Hi Colin, selling guitars, to me, is kind of a personal thing. I recently sold the last of my Gibsons. (A 2019 Les Paul Traditional) which was a beautiful guitar, but I decided to let it go. I regretted it for a short time, but now I'm glad I did. I currently have a small, but quality, collection of Epiphones and the obligatory Fender. I may get another Gibson, but it's getting pretty hard to justify the price these days..... Greetings from the U.S.! 🎸✌️

Tough choices for sure! I went on mad GAS streak since 2020, acquiring 8 guitars (3 Squiers and 5 EPI’s). I’ve sold 1 (Squier 50’s Strat) and still think about that guitar when I see them on KZbin…lol. Reality for me is I will part with a few more and lose some $, BUT ( here comes the justification:) it’s worth the $ because of the journey exploring different styles of guitars…rock on Colin!

Hey Colin, Not surprised at all that you're selling the LP Standard. I am surprised you're selling the SG Custom. I had a feeling you were because it wasn't on its usual spot on the wall behind you. In the end, they're just guitars and the sales from those 2, and the others, should allow for many more opportunities to continue to feed your addiction! I was visiting some friends out of town and visited a very, very nice used guitar shop. Found a gently used 2021 Epiphone SG Custom for an absolute steal. It had mojo and I was able to get an even lower price after a nice chat with the staff. Here's to a good New Year for us all, -J

Buying and selling is what it’s all about. You get to try so many guitars and find what you really want on the flip side I usually don’t make money but it’s fun nonetheless. I’ve found a few keepers but usually they come and go. It’s like having your own guitar store😄

Great show Colin!! I honestly think You have better Les Pual's than this standard having got a glimpse of them, not necessarily Gibson's as well!! I think You made right decisions on the ES335 style guitars and the sG as well!! Behind You on Your films is a wall with many SG's and a nice selection for any occasion!!! I do like Your Goldtop Epiphone, and the other Goldtop You have, they are really nice 50's style and are platforms for whatever You might want to do!! You are the reason I got one, and the reason I got the Epiphone SG Les Paul!!! Love them both!!! You do such a Great Job of this, and really enjoy Your Wit and Dialog!!! We get to know You better with it!!! Excellent show for other Guitarists!!! Cheers Mate!!!

I like to try and eliminate overbuying preemtively if at all possible. Rules like no more than two of each model (say 2 Les Pauls), but they have to be sufficiently different. I did want either a Custom or a Modern, but they have the same electronics as my 50s one so it doesn't seem worth it-- whereas my Studio has different pickups and just a very different vibe in how it looks. I was considering trading in that SG Special, but when I plug it in all the issues I have with it fall by the roadside. Those p90s sound just so damn nice. I would like a couple more Gretschs as I only have two. The smaller body semi with the Gretsch style staple pole-piece p90s, and the super affordable one with a p90 in the neck, humbucker in bridge and wrap-around bridge. Also still the Jaguar and a Firebird if they don't sell out in a week.

I'm sorry but not surprised to see the cherry ES 335 go by the wayside. It's very similar to my own favorite guitar, a cherry 2019 Epi ES 335 Pro, and so I rooted for it to win you over. I suspect that a reason that 335 types have a tough time with you is because of their size. It looked to me like it had to be played kind of at an angle to fit comfortably under your arm and as a result the lower waist would tend to creep forward on your leg. I'm very long in the torso and that may be why I bonded so well with mine. Also I wasn't as accustomed to any particular guitar style before I got mine as you were with your SGs. Anyway, good luck with your sales and thanks.

Brasso is one of the best finishing polishes. Gently sand with 1200 grit then 2000 grit on a sanding block rubber preferable with a bit of water and a dropped of detergent for lubrication on both. Buff with MyGuire's compound finish with Brasso.

At the beginning of the pandemic I got nervous, as I’m away from home recording in L.A. and saw the need to put-away a some cash. I foolishly chose to sell a 1999 Guild Blues-90, with the nicest green-top you’ve ever seen. I sold-it to a well-known player & it found a good-home, but I’d love to have it back sometimes. ☮️

I sell locally on Craigslist here in Tucson, and only one guitar at a time. Otherwise I get confused. I made a vow last year that I would only buy a guitar after I sold one from my collection, and I'm proud to say that I've stuck to it . . . at least so far! 😉

Dangerous video content there Colin, I definitely have an attraction for Les Pauls & 335s. Couldn't help but have a sneaky look on Reverb once my wife had left the house. She was a bit concerned about me drooling over the Les Paul & the Sheraton & worried that they were only 30 minutes away down the A127. I certainly get the sentiment of hanging on to guitars. At the moment I am torn with upgrading a couple of Les Pauls with new pick ups, pots & wiring. They look & play great & very attached to them, but sound poor once you then plug in Lazarus or the "inspired by" 335 as a comparison. Even if I did the upgrade I would still be chasing a black Custon & Gold Top with P90s. Might as well use the old guitars for additional funds for the new purchase.... if allowed. I did try to plead my innocence by comparison, you bought 30 guitars last year, while I only bought 3. Don't think she was impressed.

The trick is Paul to remind her of all the far worse things you could be indulging in... dangerous motorsports, heavy drinking, drugs, womanising, for instance ... if you are creative I promise she will be much more forgiving of the occasional guitar shaped delivery in future! 😆👍

You wondered if anyone got anything out of this if we weren't interested in buying so I'll tell you what I found interesting. It was nice to see and hear the decision-making process. We're all different, but we're also all guitar nerds and musicians, so sometimes it's just about understanding where one of "us" is coming from. I know selling guitars can be less than fun, but funding future videos seems a just cause to me, rather selfishly I suppose, because I always enjoy your videos so much. Good luck on the sales and I look forward to some telecaster love. I've been eyeing the new Aerodyne Telecaster made in Japan myself!

Ooh I remember that Guild Starfire DC1. Made me want one after thinking about an Epi ES-339. Or some 'ES-335' type semi hollow. It would either be the last one I got or the first. Have to have one with P90s too, right? But one like your Epi 335, that would be nice. The right deal will come along, prolly have one of this type someday. Cheers from Dallas!

Same boat. Selling all but a few this year. Filtered through a bunch to find what guitars were for me. Will not get what I paid but I look at it as the cost of my guitar education. Or could look at it like the cost of leasing a guitar for a year or two. Actually having a blast messing about with all these guitars with no regrets. The beat goes on. I owned a 1976 Guild Starfire IV - best sounding pickups I've ever heard, but the truss rod was shot and so I sold it on to someone as a project guitar.
