Funnily enough Don I had to use some P320's today on a Mercedes CL. Some used car lot joker had previously sprayed them with 2K clear. It took me a total of 2 hrs start to finish. 1/2 hr masking them up and 1-1/2 hrs actually restoring them. The customer was very impressed once I had finished, he also told me that I had come highly recommended by someone who's car I did last week. Can't beat word of mouth eh! All down to you my friend. A very big thank you for sharing your videos Don. Regards. Jim, from the UK.

Hi I did it I'm a 63 years old woman. I used this method without the drill I used that little hand grab thing. I only used 800 the spong in the Maguires box then a 1000 then a 2000 used rubbing alcohol then soapy water dryed then the spray . It came out good one thing after it dryed I can see a bit of cloudy still why do you think that is did I not put enough after spray on. In the morning I'm going to lightly sand with 2000 then the Maguires plastic cream like you have . At first I thaught oh no I ruined the light but bingo came out clear . Thanks for your videos it gave me the confidence to do it 👍

I gave this Plast-X polish a try, because the 3M Restoration System kit (39008) only came with enough compound for one headlight. (Some headlights are so big today!) I got good results by using it on the second headlight. I would say it turned out as good, or very close to, the first light. I do feel like I had to use more pressure, more passes, and more compound with the Plast-X. The 3M kit I bought from Amazon came with a 1oz packet of rubbing compound (39005). That compound has the unmistakable petroleum smell. The Plast-X polish has a mild smell, like a household cleaner, as you said. The bottle I got looked just like the one you showed in the video, and the liquid was light blue in color. Anyway, it did the job ... and it's available for about half the cost per ounce of the new 3M 36060 compound, and it comes in a much smaller size bottle ... so it's a major cost savings for a DIY'er.

What's funny is that, I used that New and improved Meguiars plastX polish, as it was the only available option to me in South Africa, Other things I had to find alternatives were the 3M Trizact pads, just settled for p3000 normal disc, Then I couldn't get Meguiars headlight spray, but here in SA there is a another made for headlights sealant spray called Lens Clear by HB body, so I used that, not sure if it'll last as long as Meguiars, but I guess I'll see. In terms of clarity, its top tier, didn't get any orange peel or funny effects. Using your method I was able to get my headlights looking new again just last week, it was the 1st time I ever used any of the products and tools, but followed your method to the T and thank you for all information, With my lights looking good, other than washing your car frequently, what other things or products can be used to maintain the restoration for a very long time?

@theheadlightrestorationpro

Not sure whatever you're using must not be working correctly the whole pad should be flush something's definitely wrong it should be a flat surface which gives surface contact like a pancake flat and even so if that's going on you have something wrong with defect or something I should try something else...

@theheadlightrestorationpro
@theheadlightrestorationpro 9 ай бұрын
Yes...I use my fans..(2) on every headlight restoration... Forced are drying...air drying is the best for headlight products because the actual dry from a process calls air exchange and or chemical exchange wich has to do with releasing moisture in the air...more air more drying.... Also helps particles and debris to not fly into the finished product...

Is it because I was using the power drill on full power, causing the sand paper to melt? Should I only pull the trigger half way down? I used a 20v Hary power drill , max setting, and the switch on 2. Is that the proper settings? If so like I said do I just not pull the trigger all the way down?

I'd say it's about equal they both have about the same rating in my opinion they're both lacking just a little bit on one thing or other but definitely well over the threshold to be good enough to use... You have one that is lacking just a little tiny bit of oil content.. maybe you have one that is really loose and could be sicker...

A-yup, I tried a little hand sanding on my own headlights with 320 grit (it was a pretty rough headlight and my 500 discs were all shot.) I cleaned it up as much as I could with the 800 grit and the Trizect but there's still obvious scratches when you look closely at the headlight. I've also been watching Paint Society and he seems to live by Eagle Abrasives K-grit discs for paint and headlights, and I was curious if you've had any experience with using them on a headlight restoration? Good video.

@@weliftnation2418 welcome today i tried this method and had 100% great results. To factor one thing that I am not experienced at all in this field and still turned out great so I am very surprised by the Dry sanding method

Meguir's PLASTIC X easiest way to apply is a mustard squeeze bottle type thing. I got a clear one for under $2 much better control of application.

This is like the 3rd video I've come across from this channel. Chief of 1000+ headlights. Lol. I have a 08 Accord that I'm trying to clean up and it looks like I should try to fix the headlights. I need to check my respirator mask and see if I need a new filter.

Hello sir, new subscriber here from.the philippines. Ive watched couple of yr videos and your work is above and beyond . After using p500 n p800, do u throw them away? Sadly, 3m p500 n p800 is not available in our country, there are 500 grits without the "P"

Yes I told them away when they are of no use anymore usually after each use they are done if they're still a little use in them I save them for another vehicle... Unfortunately p500 is not 500... You'll have to look at a conversion chart and tell you what equals a p500 it is not 500.. Thank you for watching..

It's funny, I've had more problems with Amazon than Ebay.. I'm usually strickly Ebay. They usually have more selection at better prices. Plus the used aspect. Car parts, firearm parts, electronics etc. Ebay can be tricky, you gotta know what you're doing and what to look for. They also have a money back guarantee as long as the seller has a return policy

Thank you for the value! I understood you change the P500 up to 3 times per headlight. But what about the P800 and P3000? How many P800/P3000 do you use per headlight? Thank you for Eastern Europe!
@theheadlightrestorationpro
@theheadlightrestorationpro 9 ай бұрын
I honestly would just watch a couple more of my videos to see the variations of the p800 usage.. typically majority of the times it's one per headlight but sometimes it ends up being two or three depending on the headlight or how much damage is done on the stages before... The 3000 trizak is used probably for about 3- 5 vehicles..

Id like to see the product used without any sanding 1st..then after you sand. Just to show the comparison. I personally sand all my restorations I do for my personal vehicles and family members. But some people just want a review on product without the prior sanding
