Hi can I use meguaire headlight coating on convertible tops plastic window? I just had my plastic window professionally sand down to perfect clean but I don't feel meguaire plastic x does the same protection as this coating.

Out of curiosity, I noticed you dont wipe of the polish oil residue, or tact cloth - does that impact the longevity of the clear coat adhering?

Does the clear coat have anything to grab to? Since you polish it.

Hey, thanks for sharing this video. I have also watched some of your videos and followed your tips and guides. Have you also done VW headlights? Particularly a Golf MK6? If so, may I know what sand grit when you do the first phase? Thanks in advance.

What a bunch of BS…why is everybody creating so much drama around buffing, waxing, or polishing headlights??? You buff, wax, and polish your car at least 3 times a year don’t you? I don’t hear anyons complaing about that…Use the product that works best for you and your situation, and just do it and stop complaining…geez…

Great info! I got my mguiars halfway thru a rescue job that was going from bad to worse (last coat wouldn't dry! madness!), so I cut some corners quite badly and so it looks only just okay. But, now I have time to study this whole restoration art properly and get prepped to take them both back down early next year. It's deceptively complex - easy to screw up for sure!

It's funny, I've had more problems with Amazon than Ebay.. I'm usually strickly Ebay. They usually have more selection at better prices. Plus the used aspect. Car parts, firearm parts, electronics etc. Ebay can be tricky, you gotta know what you're doing and what to look for. They also have a money back guarantee as long as the seller has a return policy

The funny thing is you can take these skills and implement them into other parts of your life like at your house and cleaning like healthcare, facial cleansing and care products. Your skin is just kind of like paint

I appreciate your guidance. After watching several of your videos, I finally garnered up the courage to dry sand my own headlight. They turned out amazing. Thank you so much. Now I have a question. Can a water repellant such as RainX be used on properly repaired and coated headlights? Or is there another product you would recommend? Or is it detrimental to the coating and plastic? Thank you for your videos and the time you put into them.

Buying those sanding disc's etc is more than a new lense 02 b4000 you have a kit recommendation
@StephanWimberly-oj7il12 күн бұрын
I have an 02 B4000 the headlight has three nipples. How do you work around those? I just hit it with acetone a few times and the lense cleared up then hit with mcquires spray. But the nipples I can get clean, but it's an old rig I'm not worried about it. Still have drivers side to do.

So you usually do 2 rounds with the 800grit using your drill, then 800 by hand, then jump to 3k grit then polish?

I had a 2011 Honda civic and dealership wanted $1,400 for OEM lights and $400 for labor. At the end of the day all lights are the same 2 pieces , plastic on backside and a clear polycarbonate on front and they are glued together. They aren't made from any type of special materials but the OEM are a higher quality polycarbonate and more clearcoat

I did a headlight service before can you turn up the b I should have said it more.. what I'm trying to say is after the sanding process I think I should have did it longer and cut deeper into the lens because after I was done it seemed like more of the inside of the lens than the outside???

I gave this Plast-X polish a try, because the 3M Restoration System kit (39008) only came with enough compound for one headlight. (Some headlights are so big today!) I got good results by using it on the second headlight. I would say it turned out as good, or very close to, the first light. I do feel like I had to use more pressure, more passes, and more compound with the Plast-X. The 3M kit I bought from Amazon came with a 1oz packet of rubbing compound (39005). That compound has the unmistakable petroleum smell. The Plast-X polish has a mild smell, like a household cleaner, as you said. The bottle I got looked just like the one you showed in the video, and the liquid was light blue in color. Anyway, it did the job ... and it's available for about half the cost per ounce of the new 3M 36060 compound, and it comes in a much smaller size bottle ... so it's a major cost savings for a DIY'er.
