Damascus etymology in Syriac means well watered land. Abraham steward מֶשֶׁק is from a well watered land (Damascus). Abraham states he is childless and his steward (cupbearer) will receive his inheritance. Steward = Cupbearer = Meseq = מֶשֶׁק mem = water; shin = consume; qof = what is final, future (inheritance). Combining the Hebrew letters you get: The steward or cupbearer will consume the final or future water(inheritance) of Abraham

What is the meaning of Isaiah 17:1 ? Isaiah 17:2-6 gives some clues, saying, starting with verse 1: "A pronouncement against Damascus: “Look ! Damascus will cease to be a city, and it will become a heap of ruins. The cities of A·roʹer (meaning "juniper tree", whereby there were two cities that were named Aroer, one located in the southern part of the tribal territory of Gad, on the eastern side of the Dead Sea, Deut 2:36, and another located also in Gad's territory that ' faced Rabbah ', location unknown, Joshua 13:24, 25) will be abandoned;" "They will become places for flocks to lie down with no one to make them afraid. Fortified cities will disappear from Eʹphra·im (or the dominant tribe that represented the ten tribe kingdom of Israel, after ten tribes were ripped away in 997 B.C.E. from the original 12 tribes of Israel, due to King Solomon's apostasy, leaving only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin in the south, see 1 Kings 11:9-11, 29-37), and the kingdom from Damascus;" "And those remaining of Syria will be like the glory of the Israelites (or very small number of "residents" left),” declares Jehovah (God's name, see Ex 6:3, KJV) of armies. “In that day the glory of Jacob will diminish, and his healthy body will grow thin." So, many Israelites of the apostate ten tribe kingdom of Israel, along with the citizens of Damascus, were led into exile to Assyria by King Tiglath-pileser, whereby "the glory of Jacob will diminish, and his healthy body will grow thin", with the ten northern tribes being called Israel, while the southern two tribes were called Judah.(see Eze 37:16, 19) Israel became "emaciated" or almost lifeless, desolate, in which "only gleanings will be left (or a few Israelites are left), as when an olive tree is beaten: Only two or three ripe olives remain on the highest branch, only four or five on its fruit-bearing branches". "Fortified cities will disappear from Eʹphra·im and the kingdom from Damascus" when Tiglath-pileser put to death King Rezin of Syria and Damascus as "the head of Syria" was then decimated in about 759 B.C.E.(2 Kings 16:9) At Isaiah 7, it says that "in the days of (20 year old) Aʹhaz (reigned 762-746 B.C.E.) son of Joʹtham son of Uz·ziʹah, the king of Judah, King Reʹzin of Syria and Peʹkah (reigned 778-759 B.C.E.) son of Rem·a·liʹah, the king of Israel, came up to wage war against Jerusalem, but he could not capture it." "A report was made to the house of David (or two tribe kingdom of Judah): “Syria has joined forces with Eʹphra·im.” And the heart of Aʹhaz and the heart of his people began to tremble, like the trees of the forest shaking in the wind." "Jehovah then said to Isaiah: “Go out, please, to meet Aʹhaz, you and your son Sheʹar-jaʹshub, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool by the highway of the laundryman’s field. You must say to him, ‘Take care to stay calm. Do not be afraid, and do not lose heart because of these two stumps of smoldering logs, because of the hot anger of Reʹzin and Syria and the son of Rem·a·liʹah." "For Syria with Eʹphra·im and the son of Rem·a·liʹah have plotted harm against you, saying: “Let us go up against Judah and tear it apart and conquer it for ourselves, and let us appoint the son of Tabʹe·el as its king.” "‘This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: “It will not succeed, nor will it take place (for this would void Jehovah's promise to David that "I will raise up your offspring after you, your own son, and I will firmly establish his kingdom", 2 Sam 7:12, so that the lineage from David to his "son" or descendant, Jesus Christ, had to remain UNBROKEN) "For the head of Syria is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Reʹzin. Within just 65 years Eʹphra·im (or ten tribe kingdom of Israel) will be completely shattered and cease to be a people (in about 694 B.C.E., when Israel was exiled and replaced with people from other nations, see 2 Kings 17:24). The head of Eʹphra·im is Sa·marʹi·a, and the head of Sa·marʹi·a is the son of Rem·a·liʹah."(Isa 7:1-9) Isaiah 7:18-20 now says: "In that day Jehovah will whistle for the flies from the distant streams of the Nile of Egypt and for the bees (or the armies) in the land of As·syrʹi·a, and they will all come and settle down on the steep valleys, on the rocky clefts, on all the thornbushes, and on all the watering places." "In that day by means of a hired razor from the region of the (Euphrates) River, by means of the king of As·syrʹi·a, Jehovah will shave the head and the hair of the legs, and it will sweep away the beard as well (so that cities with their residents "will disappear")."

Very interesting. But let's be real: Eliezer was likely a household slave, a common practice of the day (and which Jesus reflects often in his various parables; the nature of slavery being different at this time to our more recognisable 'Atlantic ' slavery). Scriptures in translations too often try to hide the reality of slavery with euphemisms. We need to be less circumspect.
