In biblical hebrew, vav was called waw and pronounced as "w" and "oo" and the probable original pronunciation was something like "yehu." Also, even when spelling out Hashem it's custmary to say yod hei with vav hei or even yod kel with vav kel.
@TheHebrewBibleАй бұрын
@@Simrealism the Tiberian Masoretes apparently pronounced the six letter as “vav” and as “oo” only in certain cases. According to Geoffrey Khan, Regius Professor of Biblical Hebrew at the University of Cambridge, their tradition goes back all the way to the 2nd Temple Levitical tradition. He has produced 2 open source volumes on Tiberian Pronunciation, which you can download for free. However, he does say that originally “vav” was pronounced as “waw”. I am not sure what do you mean by “with” in your last line, but I am aware of the Jewish tradition of using qof instead of hei when saying the letters of Hashem. Thank you for your comment.
@SimrealismАй бұрын
@TheHebrewBible the "with" breaks up the spelling of the name. I don't know the source, but it's what I was taught, and breaking up the spelling like that is also in my siddur. So when spelling it you add "with" in between. Yod hei - with - vav hei. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it. I wasn't trying to correct you, but add supplemental information I've learned in my Torah studies that you might have been interested in.

@SimrealismАй бұрын
@TheHebrewBible I don't know if this is exactly what you mean, but you probably know that vav means "and" when affixed to word. Before a word beginning with a scheva vowel, the pronunciation is "oo," ike "oo-ph'arah," "and a cow" and like "v" before a full vowel such as "v-gamal," "and a camel." Sorry if you speak hebrew, but I don't have hebrew on this tablet yet, so please forgive my bad Latin transliteration. I never studied how to transliteration properly. 😂

For all the commenters saying that "pronouncing the name is not forbidden" and that using the name "YHVH was common" , etc.. you don't have a clue what your talking about and you surely do not even know the sacred name and couldn't pronounce it no matter how hard you try (which is a wonderful thing, thus you won't be taking it in vain any time soon .. but you calling the sacred name "Common" or saying the name was "common", is itself a form of taking it in vain, because the name is NOT COMMON. it is Holy and Set-apart, the very opposite of being "common"). You all are the very reason the Jewish sages, who have the oracles of God, have kept the sacred name hidden. . When Moshiach comes, and we merit the Shekinah to dwell among us, the name will be revealed.

In the book of Amos they were told not to zakar (make mention of Yahuahs name in praise) because they turned justice into poison and righteousness into wormwood. See Amos 6:10. Any time Israel swore falsely in making a covenant and thus turned judgment to hemlock (Hosea 10:4) they were violating the commandment of using Yahuahs name in vain (Exodus20:7). In Jeremiah chapter 44 the Yahudim were performing vows and burning incense to the queen of heaven. Therefore in verse 26 Yahuah says his name shall no more be in the mouth of the Yahudim. Not mentioning the name of Yahuah is for idolatry and taking His name in vain. The doctrine of NOT mentioning his name in Holy Praise is Talmud utter nonsense by the synagogue of satan. They say there are Yahudim and are NOT. Psalm 18:3 I will CALL UPON the LORD who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. Yah Chay

Go back to Amos 6:10 portion.. It has to do with being in captivity. The Nation of Israel or the Jews as a people didn't kill the Messiah. An angry mob and the Pharisees handed Him to the Romans. Pontius Pilate knew He was an innocent man and then watched the same innocent man die. We don't want to start with "church" history. It wasn't good enough, everything they done. We also now have INTERPOLATIONS in the Text to deal with. They pencil whipped the Scriptures. Any honest theologian can see what they have done. The original Jewish Ecclesia of the New Covenant was murdered by rome under the Theodosian Code.
