Four years ago yesterday, my brother suddenly passed away. Just like that, fell like an autumn leaf in front of my parents. How in the name of everything that its holly and good and wholesome in this world is this fair and how can I ever console them? No parent deserves such an ordeal, least of them these two loving, caring, tender parents like mine … yet here we are … such is the fate of some, bile bitter ….

When I use to be in charge of a Homeless Kitchen we had a Homeless Man that we called Willie he was an awesome guitar player and he would play this song while 50 homeless people would eat. I called him Willie, he would come down from the Mountains of the town with a mule and wagon, I gave him 10 pairs of socks my Hub did not need and a leather jacket. One day I found out he passed so this song is very special to me.

I was just about to comment about Reggie. What a fantastic session guitarist! He knows when to shut up and when to play. He's like a living sidechain compressor: As soon as someone is singing, he stops playing, and not in an awkward way. He anticipates when the singers come in and adjusts his phrasing accordingly. And the way he's changing his tone. Just masterful. And I love how he looks like a damn truck driver who somehow just happened to be brought up on stage.

Thank you Eric for your music, performances, being a human being! I’m almost 73 years old so since I was 17years old I listened to your music in all kinds of bands you had a great role with your famous guitar and your more than beautiful voice! In my possession lots of Elpees ,and keep on listening to! Your life was not easy but still you kept on going even on your more then bad times! The more than terrible lost of your son must be more than hell , ! That wound in a men’s heart …. No words ,unspeakable pain and sorrow ,sadness , that always always will be there , will be your companion…… but it’s better to feel that pain than …. Because nothing will take this pain away…. There is no,no,no medicine ,drug , bottles, against that because what ever you will take to try to make that pain less,it will come back harder ! It’s better to have and keep your son in your clean heart ,clean soul and clean thoughts ,That more than beautiful song for Conor ….Tears in Heaven ,so beautiful so full of love ……. And you father Eric and son Conor will see each other in heaven , he will come running to you, to his so beloved father! Do Hope you have happiness , good friends, receiving love ,warmth and comfort that will embracing you every day and night ! Lots of love ,strength I whish you from here ! 💫💫💫⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏

Agree. My disillusionment with “modern” country music started around 20 years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had the same experience with rock music. Most music today has been melted down and poured into the same boring mold, very much with an unenlightened formula. That’s just my opinion. I am old, yes, but I got to see many of the great bands.

I like this theory very much it keeps me from admitting that I'm getting old ;) That said there is plenty of human made music out there, just not in western music industry any more.

We all know those 4 stars but I wasn't familiar with Reggie Young. I kept noticing how that guy in the backup was playing the most beautiful guitar parts - and at the end of this song, Cash recognized him. I thought that was so awesome! He also played the most awesome parts on the Highwaymen song at the same concert. I then researched Young and he had a super impressive career as a studio musician playing on lots of famous recordings. I love the comment someone left way down below somewhere that goes like this: Producers: how many guitars should we have. Highwaymen: Yes. One of the best comments ever about anything!!! Ah - but I might be wrong. It is on here or at the Highwaymen song at the same concert. If y'all haven't listened to it - do!!!

@@pierre6760 Back in the day in the region where Willie was from, the word "cowboy" was actually a derogatory term, used by eastern writers or those making fun, akin to the term "dude"; somebody who worked cattle from horseback in the employ of another was known as a "hand" (hired hand), a "cowhand," or maybe a "puncher" or "cowpunch," or "brushpopper," or other terms depending on region and era. "Cowpoke" was the self-deriding term that somebody in the business might use. The term "cowboy" didn't become acceptable until the generation who grew up on television came of age. Willie is staying true to his heritage by using the term. (I grew up a few miles from where Willie did, a generation later, and am the granddaughter of a ranch foreman.)
