The golden age began in the 1960s, with Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dylan, Aretha Franklin. In the 70s with Pink Floyd, Eagles, Genesis, Springsteen, Queen, in the 80s with Dire Straits, Madonna, Michael Jackson, W. Houston, Police, U2, Tina Turner, in the 90s with Oasis, REM and ended with the end of the twentieth century. Obviously I have mentioned only a few of the many artists of the 1960-2,000 period. After 2000, with some exceptions, Anastacia, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones and a few others, nothing.

However, unfortunately, I 'm old enought to have bought the album "Eye in the sky" Even I was only a teenager and I still didn't understand progressive rock well, I was fascinated by this beautiful album, a mix of progressive rock, experimental music and pop. Alan Parson is a genius. The Beatles and Pink Floyd themselves told that a nice part of the succes of "Abbey Road" and "The dark side of the moon" was because Alan Parson was the sound engineer,

Overall - spectacular. One of the premium tracks of the 80's - dear to many. This is fantastic but my air hairs stood up with the Sax came in. I loved the personal take, what an incredible talent. Another thing I love about these covers is the appreciation for the sound, arrangement, and characteristics of the original recording that you get from hearing an attempt to duplicate it. This is a beautiful version.... and it really highlights the 'magic' that Spandau Ballet captured with their original track.

Yes, the original recording - And the accompanying music video - in my mind can't be topped. Tony Hadley's singing voice and raw emotion on that song made it more than "just a song." The music video was spare in sets and "story" but really highlighted Spandau Ballet's good looks and stylish "New Romantic" persona, the perfect complement for this particular song. The art direction, camera movement, and particularly the use of the changing split screens was minimalist yet visually effective. (Fun fact: I read somewhere that Sade designed the lads' stylish suits before she would make it big herself as a singer in about a year.)
