What's interesting and incredible is that these folks cover songs that most cover bands won't even touch- it takes SERIOUS chops to play Toto, Boston, Fleetwood Mac, or ANY of the 70's & 80's bands- most of which were superbly talented musicians and songwriters.

They might be great or it might be editing/auto tune. This guitar player is great, but I noticed one in another video one who wasn't really playing. At one point he lost track of where the stings were and was struming the wood. It makes me wonder what else is heavily edited.

@@LJW55 lead vocalist sings David Paich's part. Paich usually sang the lowest vocal parts in Toto's songs. The highest vocals in the chorus of Africa is the lead singer Bobby Kimbal, middle part is Lukather. So it's just fine that the lead in Africa doesn't sing the high vocals. Neither was the case in the original song.

I'd be happy to say the same about HSCC's version of Toto's another great song 'Georgy Porgy', but I can't. HSCC played it so well, harmony is interesting, singing is great.. Just it sounds like a completely different song.. With all due respect, sometimes too much of sugar isn't excellent idea.. I understand that tastes differ but I think that some songs really don't sound so good if those are modified too much. It is not an easy task to decide what to change, what to leave intact, I know..

I recenty read Steve Lukather’s autobiography, he mentions how complicated the recording of the song was and how difficult the high notes. It only emphasises the incredible talent of HSCC.

I saw the then Toto lineup play on 7th March 2008 at the Palais Theatre Melbourne Australia and they finished the set with Africa. Sorry, Toto no disrespect, but HSCC cover is so tight and mixed so well it captures the original Toto sound and vocals, and if you close your eyes you would think you were listening to the original lineup of the early '80s. Toto only played one concert in 2008. Thank you HSCC

Here we are in the Philippines, with many, many small jobs to do in the new abode - as is normal. Then, without any warning, some nice man on KZbin starts a Medley of 80+ HSCC covers - both AD and PD (Ante & Post-Darren), which meant all the jobs haven't been done and it's now dark already - yet the medley from all these marvellous musicallists just keeps on coming..! Definitely not a wasted day, and best of luck to Dom and the "new" team with their USA tour.

@@ariesred777 If by "real thing of each original" you mean live performance by the original artist, then I very strongly disagree. More often than not, for reasons that I will die before I understand, performers insist on deviating from the recorded version of a song. I find this quite annoying because what is often changed is the song's great moments. I always have to wonder and want to ask the artist, "if you thought this was better, why did you not record it that way?" Thank goodness for HSCC, who make it possible for us to enjoy live performances of good music as it was originally intended to be heard.

As a music lover, corner group singing without instruments, you stay true to the original as much as possible. Keep doing your thing but don’t rearrange to much Con you’ll take a wrong turn. I’m 77 yrs and at least 70 of them I was in to all styles of music and have an ear for what is and isn’t music. Good on you for doing this with the group. Much more success in the future.
