Just by watching everyone's stream's, I reckon the best strategy would be to just purchase mainly submarines as they seem to be so OP, and then purchase a few CV and destroyers with a couple of transports. Submarines can scout and decimate enemy fleets, and all you need are a few destroyers to protect your carriers from subs. Subs and CV are so OP.

Eh, subs were pretty potent in real life. US subs sank 7 Japanese carriers during the war, no to mention all the commerce raiding. If the Japanese had used their subs properly they probably would have taken a heavy toll on the US as well.

@@maxleitschuh7076 yeah I agree Submarines were pretty deadly, just as Karl Donitz said after the war, if Hitler gave him the submarines numbers he asked for, then Germany could had knock Great Britain out the war, if not then most certainly would've won the battle of the Atlantic, and a very different conclusion to the end of the war.

One of the reasons the US was so successful with their submarine efforts in the Pacific (once the flaws in the Mark 14 were ironed out) was that the Japanese had relatively few destroyers and ASW vessels. They pumped most of their resources into larger ships, in keeping with their "decisive battle" doctrine. The US meanwhile built quite literally hundreds of ASW vessels. Had the Japanese built more submarines they would have found them far less effective because the US had more anti-submarine ships in the water to combat them.

Hey mate - just a little tip - when using the recognition manual. You can use the arrows on either side of the tick mark to quickly cycle through ships, rather than using the drop down menu every time. I have found it a whole lot easier ;-)

You don't have to lead your targets with your bow. Your firing solution will have your torpedoes change to the right course. Man watching people play this game is aggravating.

The irony with the Mk 14 was that the better your shot was, the more likely it was to dud. The super sharp-angle shots like you had with that DD tended to be OK, but when you had the perfect 90 degree shot it tended to fail. That said, when it did detonate, it was quite powerful. I doubt many Japanese DDs could have survived multiple hits from an Mk 14 like the ones in the game did.

what's going on....played this a few months back, just come back to it now, and i'm finding it impossible to sink a sub depth charges.....they either all seem to miss now, or otherwise doesn't do any?, or sufficiant damage.......when before i sank 10 or more of them, now i just exhausted my whole compliment of charges 3 destroyers so 180 i think.......and it's like i never even attacked?, anyone else?.......wtf?

blow the ballast when your submarine is sinking so that the sub can make a final stand with its deck gun and do some damage to the enemy ship

Oh and one more thing, stop using sub torps like you are, the Submarines work by getting a firing solution via the Torpedo tab, selecting the amount and spread and then letting them go. So getting a periscope at least for now, has no upside aside from getting you spotted. It also has no symbology to help aim anyway, in case you were wondering anyway, either press the P depth button or go to -30 feet and then you can use the scope button

I wonder how the torpedo firing solutions could be made better/easier Maybe have a "red line" in the direction the torpedo will follow (like in atlantic fleet) maybe? Sub warfare there was a little easy (with enough experience, of course) Also, I feel that fleet battles will be very hard to manage

Basically it's the computer that helped submarines on both the Allied and Axis side plot their torpedo strikes. You'd put key information into the system and it would spit out a fire control solution and it would convey that information to the torpedo's so when the torpedo's fired the gyros etc would be sync'd to that solution. They were very early computers and both the Allied and Axis subs used them.

they have sunk 35k tons of my ships mostly subs and I have sunk 371k of there ships but for some reason I cannot get my solution to go up to 99% It used to be really good but now it seems impossible to get it to that level Not sure what i am doing wrong I have good angle, ahead of the enemy, locked on and still not getting what I need.
