All the sportsbooks and most analysts predicted Panthers to win this series, so not really sure what your point is. Hockey is a notoriously inconsistent sport regarding the outcome of any individual game. Game 1 with 32-17 shots and a 2-0 outcome is a good example of this point. I don't think anyone's surprised to see the series at 2-0, though it wouldn't be surprising to see it at 1-1 either. Just how it goes with a low margin sport, and Edmonton is absolutely capable of winning games against any team in this league, even if the series was Panthers favoured going into it.

Listen I understand the refs are just garbage in this league. However, Oilers fans can cry about the refs as much as they want, fact is, Florida outclassed them for the majority of the game and the oilers got extremely dirty when things didn’t go their way. They look like they lost their heads similar to how the Panthers did in those first 2 games in Vegas last year. They also look incredibly beat up like the Panthers did last year as well.

Some guys around the league are going to take cheap shots like that when they’re frustrated (good example would be my own team’s inexplicable captain, who in addition to throwing elbows was praised as a brilliant leader for throwing his helmet in a temper tantrum in 2022), because the league doesn’t really do anything to stop it. That being said the Panthers’ winning formula rests heavily on wearing down opponents until they make mistakes and then making them pay for those mistakes. Well, some guys lash out in response because they know there won’t be any consequences. I think we’re looking at the Panthers winning this, which means you’ll see other teams try to copy the blueprint. If the league doesn’t do something to get the flying elbows out of the game I can easily see a trend where this starts happening more and more around the league
