The Caps changed to the screaming eagle not long after I started following the NHL. So many 90s logos have since been changed to something else- usually back to a previous logo- but I think this is one of the few that’s better than what preceded it.

Torts knows precisely that this is his last coaching gig most likely. He said all the right things, and knows Michkov should be there way longer than he is. I don't believe he will do anything dumb, but he needs to show that Michkov is not above the team, so I expect some early push to make the point that it is a team sport.

They're drafting players based on skill, not character. And honestly, most of the people they've had issues with seem pretty devoid of it. Tortorella, on the other hand, has tons of character. He's just not always been the best at expressing that.

Most important about the Panthers deal is that Vinnie Viola will pay over $51 mil to eliminate the remaining debt that team owes for Amerant Bank Arena and that will give the Panthers a 4 year window to arrange an agreement with Broward County for the surrounding area near the arena (assuming the County and the team does come to that agreement) will only further stabilize the franchise’ long term future.

Injuries happen and he is still young. I think most guys that have more potential are 2 years away from being a consistent roster spot. Under 2 mil and 2 years I can handle. I also think he has an upside not seen since around the time of the Heratige Classic. I am not done watching him yet. Plus they could include him in a trade for anything if they just wanted to lose him for nothing. A 5th rounder in 2029 is a trade you can always find for most players

Torts and rookies are rarely a good thing, even Keenan was less of hardass. Similar to Pat Burns era Habs too, he would get in the face of players who weren't 2-way players a whole lot even when they were doing good otherwise, it wasn't Russ Courtnall's job to fight along the boards 80s/early 90's style where those plays against the board were looooooonnnng and boring and it would take forever for a ref to use his whistle to stop the nonsense. I'm glad that "not seeing the puck for 3 seconds" is the only way to call of those force showdowns along the boards really. Don't mind a coach with personality if he's rational and gets results, Torts has calmed down while behind the bench but during press conferences is where he will throw his venom at players he wouldn't criticize in front of the whole team in the locker room. That last part I heard he wasn't doing much anymore at all from Elliot Friedman, in one of his articles from a while back.
