If someone told me there’s a Curley haired Scottish bloke who trims cows hooves and plays romantic love songs over the top on KZbin, I’d have laughed but I honestly watch these and just love how much Graham loves these animals and his job. You are a credit to the farming community my friend what a great bloke!

I had to mind a yearling highland cow for a while many years ago. She loved to romp with me and allowed me to bulldog her. I was separated from her for eighteen years. When I saw her again , she immediately came to me and pressed her poll into my stomach which was her way of saying "let's play!" I couldn't believe she remembered me after so many years! They are amazing creatures.

We have highlands up the road from me. A calf once got out into the road. I pulled over, ready to dash to the farmhouse to get help, when a random neighbor in a pickup truck stopped, scooped up the calf, put it back over the stone wall, and whistled to the mother cow. She trotted up and collected her baby. The guy jumped in his truck and kept driving. Rural folks are so kind!

Even though they are docile, wild highlanders should be respected. Do not pet strange cows. That said, we have wild highlanders and wild horses here. They are both incredibly chill. If you come across a herd of horses relaxing while standing, you can simply sit next to them and they won't mind. The highlanders are even more chill. Had a bull casually walk a bit too close to a couple. The couple got scared and quickly walked away, the bull just stood and watched before he continued on his way.

So. My Grandfather was a rancher in Little Big Horn Montana. He had a picture of HIS grandfather who had Scottish Highland Cattle. About 100 head. The picture was from 1889. Im pretty sure the inbreeding from american cattle created the Texas longhorn. My Grandpappy had a longhorn named Blue. He would walk up to Blue and scratch his head. It was the most affection i ever saw that man impart on another living being. I love my Grandad. RIP Kip Ripley

I lived on a farm as a child with Black Angus in Kentucky, USA. My favorite cow was Betsy. She was so friendly and would follow me around for pets and cuddles. Her favorite game was for me to turn my backside to her and she'd lift me up off the ground with her nose and pitch me a few feet. She was so careful doing it and we both loved it. I love cows! They have beautiful big eyes and the prettiest eyelashes that most of us women would pay big money to have. I just found your channel a couple of months ago and find it extremely interesting and informative. It brings back great memories. I was an only child so the animals were my siblings. Besides the cows, calves, and bull, I had horses, ponies, cats, dogs, monkeys, turtles, fish, frogs, and/or whatever I rescued due to injury. I would nurse it back to health and release it. That would make me cry but it was the best thing for the animals. Thanks to you, your crew, and family. Y'all are very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. ❤🐮❤🐄❤🐂❤ I have always loved Highland cows. I would've never been able to leave that calf there! 😂 Precious.

She manoeuvred her own horns into the crush. You can't force highlander (yes, I've worked with them) into narrow spaces if they don't choose to go there; but they are, as Graeme said in the video, like cats in that they know exactly where they can (and can't go). For regular handling there are specially adapted crushes which are easier for them, but they don't cater for the hoof trimming bit.

In the 1960s and early 70s, my parents used to take long holidays every year in Argyll , staying in a small family hotel where the eldest son was keen to get into farming. I remember going up to visit them several times, in my early 20s and helping the eldest son with the few Highland cows he had, especially grooming them; I especially remember going up one weekend and was he ever glad to see me as he was prepping a cow and calf, AND a heifer, for a show. The calf was for all the world like a long-legged teddy bear when we were finished with them and for many years my mother had a photo she treasured - not of me, or my dad, but of the calf with the prize rosette on its little halter! I took my mum (who was by then a widow) up that way in the early 80s, and they were about to put the hotel on the market to help their son who was, at last, getting a farm of his own after several years in farm and estate management. What happy times those were!

I never thought you'd get those horns thru the crush so easily. I had a dairy and beef cows, but mine were dehorned as calves. So the horns never grew and I have little experience with horns. My time was 40 years ago and then we had nobody with Graeme's ability doing trimming. It's amazing to an old guy. Most of the repair work Graeme does, required the vet here. When I was young, most farmers did their trimming which was almost never. I've seen hoofs so long their toes crossed. So the oldtimers used a chisel and hammer to shorten the hoof. 120k views in 6 hours! But only 14k gave a thumbs up. Why is that? Not only does Graeme do a great service to his bovine patients, he makes it entertaining for the rest of us. Old Oregon Dairyman

I want ti hug the fuzzy cow SO BAD! But, knowing my mental state, I would start crying with how safe she looks to hug.

That's something I can greatly relate to! And I pray that Jesus would reveal himself to you. Being in his presence is to feel so much love! It drowns you in his goodness and changes your heart to love everyone. Even my enemies, which is impossible on my own. Listen to John Burke and the scientifically proven afterlife cases. Even with differing religions, cultures and languages, they all mostly agree with the amazing love felt. And it fits the Bible of the Christians! Jesus Christ is Lord! And he can heal your heart.

I recommend hugging a fuzzy cow, it’s pretty epic. They’re kinda like giant but kinda shy at first dogs.

Seeing that look of pure childlike joy was wonderful. I love when someone truly loves and cares about animals that you can see their whole body light up when they get to experience a moment like that with the calves.

This whole video made me smile so big.. but especially when you were able to pet the calf. Like a big hairy puppy, it was. And it loved the chin scritches and didn’t want you to stop. I needed this one today. ❤

Family members raised some of these long horned, shaggy haired cows and after moving, luckily they were rehomed to another local farmer. Quite something to see first hand

It's so amazing to see her just hanging in the crush, all relaxed and such. It always amazes me that the cows, onced lifted up don't struggle.

That was so beautiful!!! The absolute joy on your face...you being able to help the matriarch of the herd, but then being able to recharge with the wee ones. I am fairly certain that there will be a lot of people checking out places to pet highland cows!

I watch these videos in spite of the fact that I haven't been around cows since I was a little girl. This has resulted in little things like this: As I was going to work yesterday, a crack in the road had me thinking "They're going to have to put a block on that." 🤔🙄🤣🤣🤣 When the worlds of hoof trimming and road repair collide.😊
