I was there when ken was there in perth for the McRae Memorial stages. Was a grate weekend. What ken for heta to mention is by the end of the rally the mk2 he was driving was held together with duck tape as he had a big off in one of the forrest stages. Was there in the service area and saw ken with the biggest grin on his face and i know that feeling as my dad has a 1978 mk2 escort with a 2.0 16v redtop out of a vaxhall mk3 astra gsi not to the spec as the £25,000 millington diamond but still has 220bhp to the rear wheels and cost £400 to build. Plus the weight of these cars is around 850kg (1900lbs) makes an incredible power to weight ratio. Much love ken and keep the old ford alive and kicking.

Back in the UK in the early 80,S we had a load of mk2 Ford escorts on the market, rs1800, rs2000, Mexico,s etc etc... U could buy them for under £500 in the early 90,S.. The Mercury Capri was actually not a later gen Escort it was a different car. We also had those in Europe, they were Ford Capris. They were like the Mustang of Europe with the looks and all. I don't know what engines it was sold with in the States but in Europe they came with the 'Crossflow' inline 4 engine and I think there was also a V6. This is for the mk1 Mercury Capris. For later ones, they don't look like the ones we had in Europe and, according to wikipedia, were based on the Foxbody Mustang.

Looks like the worst handling mk2 I've ever seen.. these cars are supposed to have suspension travel and pop a inside front wheel when cornering hard.
