Was NOT Expecting to FIND this HERE! Farm Field Littered with Treasure

This field is LOADED! We tried getting this permission last week, but the owners weren't home. It was a field that wasn't planted yet. This week we got lucky and they were home! They gave us permission which is awesome because we had already looked at the map and knew there used to be multiple houses on the property. Not only did we find them, but they have never been detected before. I think this used to be an orchard of some sorts. The fields were loaded with buttons. That tells me they were worked by many hands over the years. We found everything from colonial coins and buttons through Civil War cons and relics. I even found a rare Confederate Button! It was an amazing day and we're definitely going back in the future.

It amazes me how many buttons were lost. I can’t believe that everyone wasn’t running around half naked. I love the idea of the more intimate items, pocket knives, rings and pocket watches were typically gift items that were carried everyday and then lost one day. Those are the finds that mean the most to me. I watched several videos from buckle beach and some of Bradly’s double flying eagle 🦅 day waiting for today’s release. You guys take hunting to a higher level for sure and it shows. Thanks for taking us along Kurt.

That No.27 tag is a late 1870's Rail Road shipping tag. It probably has the manufacturer on the back top above where the leather strap goes through. That's a top find actually up there with the CW button. It's probably worth more money wise. I collect those being I found quite a few over the years detecting I even have one from that same Rail Road Line but at a different destination stop. The tags from those small town stations are highly collectable and some of these train memorabilia collectors down in this area (I won't post any areas on the video for your guys privacy) they will offer more then you might think for the lower number tags like that one. I found a lock from that Rail Road also walking /hunting the tracks through the woods because there were also stops between stations to unload farm supplies and materials and drop off workers and load farm produce in boxcars or even grab coal and water. That suggests there might've been a lot going on around the area and it could've brought the guy up who lost that SC button? Who knows. IMO if you find RR relics you should look to hit the trashy areas. I pulled out a US oval plate near an area I hit a RR tag and there was no civil war action even close to this area. All of those relics and buttons don't surprise me at all. Geeze now I have the bug to get out and dig some of those green targets up. It's like all the best relics and coins are this color green lol

Wow, what a crazy day. I am wondering if there was a seamstress living there that worked on clothes or something. Too many buttons for just an orchard. We hit a place like that over this way that turned up over 100 buttons. Nice Civil War buttons, though. Muck just plowed it up as usual. Worth another trip, though. thanks!

How do you reckon the S.C. button got there? Is the site on the route to/from Antietam? Or was a Union army POW camp in the vicinity, or perhaps on the route to one? One can only say so much about coins or baubles you dig up, but the S.C. button has the possibility of an interesting and researched historical connection tied to it, perhaps something for a local television news station to broadcast a story about; one of those human interest stories to counteract the crime stories from Baltimore.
