That 1798 Draped Bust Dollar is amazing, even plugged and whizzed. Very, very cool. Amazing! So cool to see it, and to have it, and there's something great about buying it raw and getting it graded, even if it didn't get a straight grade. The fact that it's protected, authenticated, and graded is a very good thing, and it's reassuring. It's also great that the coin looks good overall and you can see so much of the design, and it's more affordable than it would have been had it gotten a straight grade.

Really great to see a nice, deep dive into a beautiful, large collection. Commemoratives really are special, and deserve their popularity because they're fascinating, reasonably affordable, diverse coins from the golden age of American coin design, from the 1890s into the 1930s. There are so many beautiful designs, and the states got to shine... BTW, was that story about Carter Glass a story about the wrong guy?

I have three silver pennies but I have no idea what you meant by are they real or plated? The ones my dad left me are in like those little cardboard things. I'm not sure how I could tell if it's steal or silver lol I'm such a rookie to this.
@ghostwatchn_ace_tone Жыл бұрын
@jenniferkline4196 What I was referring to was the steel penny that looked to be dated 1944. I believe that they were only minted in 1943. There are a small number or real 1944 steel pennies that are valuable and would lead to a counterfeiter plating it with something to pass it off as authentic.
@ghostwatchn_ace_tone Жыл бұрын
@jenniferkline4196 I’m no coin expert myself and my collection isn’t much of a collection at all but I do appreciate them a great deal. I do however stack silver. I had bought a bag of steel cents hoping to get one that was in decent condition, no luck but to my surprise there was one that was dated 1981😳Not real but it’s cool to me.
@johnkelly9451 Жыл бұрын
@@ghostwatchn_ace_toneI would hang onto anything different like that too. You never know if the mint ran the wrong planchets through and some left unnoticed. Especially on a year they change the materials and the new guy is working that night. On the flip side, I've seen the diy lab experiments on electro plating. They always use a nickel and a penny. That's how some get artificially plated.

33:47 Thirty years ago I knew someone who had a 16 oz gold bar they used as a paper weight remider that he wasted his money and his investment wasn't worth anything then. Today, it would be worth roughly $32,000.00 dollars. I bet it's not a paper weight on his desk anymore. Probably the same with silver... unless a new mine is discovered. They use it in electronics and solar cells, ect. may be in short supply someday. I know people in their 80's now that bought gold coins at $65.00 an ounce years ago... sweet huh...roughly $2000.00 an ounce now...I wouldn't be surprised if they cashed a few of those in for a couple of their cruises and travels out of country.~John's wife

i feeli like its a industrial use les vehicles using cataliticconverters they had platnum in them that the only thing i can think of cuz like you said it was 2400 and paladeum was 540 to600 then now polladium is rediculiuous what platinum was then like they flipped but palladiun only has use in jewelery and paladiuumm still 10x rater than gold sowho nows , i feelit has a lot todo with paper vs physical the stock market doesnt sell physical sells paper which that same paper or coin may have been sold to multiple other people , what caused a lot of problems when the banks crashed in 2008 people wanted there investment and the companies didnt have it cause it was sold to more than one person , and they got in a lot of trouble for fraud , never trust paper only trust what you can hold
