Yes,Me too, My Grandfather had a 66 Plymouth fury 3. I got to ride around in that big Car a lot. He traded in His 62 Rambler when He bought the fury used in 68!

they lost me in 1965! When they made the Fury look like something Grandpa would own! Then they slapped the Fury name on everything. What was once specialized became everyday ware. However, I'd have on in my garage - - any year -- any model! GREAT vido!

Thanks for another well researched video. I know they weren’t popular at the time, but the early ‘60s finless transition designs have grown on me over the years. Ford and Chevy made a gradual transition from the fins, whereas Plymouth (actually, all of Chrysler) did their’s suddenly, which likely distressed loyal Mopar buyers.

The 61 & 62 models were not my favorites, but they have grown on me as well.

I'm a huge fan of the "fuselage" Fury's, my grandfather had a '72 and a '73. He only drove fury vehicles from 1962 up till 1986, I was born in '70 but this is what he told be.

Thanks for another great video. Always amazed at the hp/cuin ratio prior to 1970s was so great. Then things went bad for 1970 to 20010's. Hp/cuin ratio is back again.

You did a spot on perfect job on this video, especially clarifying the 1958 model. While "Christine" is referred to as a Fury, in reality it was a 1958:Belvedere.

In a cost cutting maneuver, the VIP was dropped in1970, which was THE pinnacle year for Fury. Yet they went even further and foolishly dropped the Sport Fury convertible AND the tachometer, instead of allowing it's final year of topless production to go out in style wearing the Sport Fury trim package. Now, many '70 Fury convertibles have been retrofitted with hide-a-way headlights by their owners to capture the look and correct Plymouths mistake. Good luck finding a tach!

You do an amazing job with these "History of" videos. I know it's A LOT of effort to research and illustrate these cars, and please know that the excellent end product is appreciated (greedily lapped up) by your fellow hopeless car guys. The vintage ads are especially wonderful to see, as are the real-life examples. The endless stream of data is a treat to hear as well. Great work! Thank you!

For clarification the 1956-1958 Furys were “halo cars” , intended to enhance the image of the Plymouth brand. They were not intended to sell in big numbers and didn’t . That’s why they only were offered in the sporty two door hardtop body style, in one color scheme , and one or two max horsepower engines. The high volume top of the line Plymouth was the Belvedere , for example the red 1958 you show, which offered the whole range of bodies, colors, powertrains, etc. Other brands in the 1950s also offered halo models. Some examples were Packard Caribbean, Cadillac Eldorado, Buick Skylark, Chrysler 300, DeSoto Adventurer. It was 1959 when Plymouth Division used the Fury name for the full offering top of the line model, essentially downgrading the Belvedere to mid range, Savoy to lowest trim model eliminating the name Plaza. Reacting to the successful new Chevrolet Impala model of 1958, Plymouth offered the Sport Fury in 1959 as the fanciest model, similarly with both two door hardtop and convertible bodies and wide range of colors. They intended for this model to sell substantially more the earlier “halo “ Furys , and that’s what they did. Thanks for putting together this fine program.

My first car was a ‘77 that I inherited from my uncle who could no longer drive. It looked like an unmarked police car that you’d see on Chips or The Dukes of Hazzard. The V-8 in it just sucked down gas but luckily gas was only $1 a gallon then.

I think one of the reasons you rarely see those is because most of them were crashed as cop cars in early 80s TV shows.

Yes I miss Plymouth for sure I always considered them above Dodge because they were sold beside the flagship Chrysler line of fine automobiles like Mercurys were sold beside Lincoln’s in same showroom

Stand alone Plymouth dealers were not really a thing, and Plymouth slowly melted into Chrysler. And they often had a cleaner look than their Dodge counterparts.

The Forward Look bowed on all Mopars in *1955, not '57, as a move away from uninspired boxiness. 1957 marked Exner's first complete command of styling across all marques.

I recently discovered your KZbin channel and I enjoy it very much. However, I must point out a mistake that you made in the first two minutes of this video when you said that "updates for 1958 (Fury) included additional colors." In 1956 and 1957, all Furys were sandstone white with gold anodized aluminum trim. In 1958, all Furys were buckskin beige with gold anodized aluminum trim. Red 1958 Furys, like the one depicted in the movie "Christine," were not stock, but merely painted red!

The 1958 Fury only came in Buckskin Beige. Other colors were not available until 1959 when they made the Fury a complete line! I hate it when you people put out false information. People who don't know better take your information as fact. You need to get your information right before you try to enlighten us with false information. Please get your act together. We can forgive Steven King for not knowing. about Plymouths of that era, as he was just. writing a story 'in which the Fury. is a four-door sedan.
