So the guy in the jail cell was under the impression that the vampires would turn him into one of them if he got the town ready for their arrival. So they sent him ahead to cut off all communication and ways out. But as the vamps said, theyre not looking to recruit, so they just used him then killed him

Barrow is a real town that recently changed its name to Utqiagvik. There's not another town further north in North America. The prices for food are crazy up there, becuz of the transportation cost. 1 watermelon costs 37 dollars... not kidding. Gallon of milk, $14, 1 gallon of gas $9.73. They call it Arctic prices. Anything north of Arctic Circle is gonna be expensive
@erindiazmclaughlin6 ай бұрын
Don't all individuals who live there get a yearly or quarterly check from the government? Not that it makes anything less expensive. But I think some of the younger individuals save that money so that they can move down to the lower forty-eight.

Character in the jail cell was their Renfield, (the character in every Dracula story that is tapped by Dracula to prepare for his arrival-Often a man who is already a bit mentally unstable.) And the ship in the beginning was like their Demeter, (again, a nod to Dracula.) I do feel like when it came to the film the “30 days” could have just been a reference to the 30 days of night, and we didn’t need to see them literally show us the whole 30 days which the film would never be able to do satisfactorily. The end is a bit deus ex machina, but whatevs. I do wish we had had more character development with the grandma and some other characters.

The movie was filmed in New Zealand, so it never stops being funny to me how they try and pass off Māori natives as Inuits. Like how westerns used to cast dark skinned Italians as ‘the indians’. Addendum: Speaking of Māori, because this is a movie channel, everyone should check out the 1983 war/revenge film Utu. Brutal, over the top, and all around amazing.

Another "terrifying " type of vampire movie in that time period you might want to check out is Fright Night (2011) with Colin Farell, David Tennant and Toni Collette which was a remake of the 1985 Fright Night (Also pretty awesome) and is more of the classic scary stalking predator/prey vampire movie in a suburban setting.

Love this movie, one of the few that comes close to what the vampire is, predatory, ruthless, superior hunters. They make edward their bxtch. No glitter in the sunlight, just brutal predator-prey dynamic without any of the modern shit. No hiding from society out of fear like twilight or tvd. There is a sequel to this, which imo isnt as good as this one.

I had the biggest crush on Josh Hartnett growing up 😭 he was my Channing Tatum before Channing Tatum chile Edit: the guy in the jail cell purpose was the killing of the dogs, cutting communication and essentially served as a distraction while the vampires prepped themselves. Woo... Some negative nancies in my comment section.. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY THEN DON'T SAY IT AT ALL... keep it moving... Anyway loves I said it a couple of days ago but along with eagerly awaiting your reactions to the Interview with the Vampire series (and hopefully the movie) The vamps in the Twilight saga that drink human blood are just as vicious as in this! You don't see the gore (actual book reason) because they never waste a drop! GIVING! The relationships are totally immature and toxic but it's all nostalgic fun, and an interesting take on an old myth. It is truly an interesting take on vampires and I will say they are stronger physically than any other vampire you've seen before. It would be cute to see you guys react. Anybody telling you not to is most likely straight and doesn't get it 🤣😂 Rob Patti is DADDYYYY🦇

Stephenie Meyer who wrote the Twilight series is an active Mormon. And 10% of her industry goes to a church that helps to try to take away the rights of LGBTQIA+ Americans. Josh Hartnett had said in making this movie the constant night shoots were stressful on the whole crew. But I always felt this and The Faculty were his best works. If you haven't yet check him out in season one of the series Penny Dreadful with Eva Green and Timothy Dalton. It's old world spooky. And Queer!

Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, Mina from Dracula, Dorian Grey, few others. The whole cast is talented and sexy! Eva Green and Billie Piper are my personal favorite duo of female leads! The comics for 30 Days of Night are really good! I've met Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith at cons before and they're really cool guys. This is such a good vampire movie. I miss scary vampire films 😭 Sure, Twilight and Vampire Diaries have their place but scary vamps can share the space! Edit: I agree that you didn't really feel the 30 days but that's my only criticism and for something that takes years to create, I'd say that's quite good. I liked the quick end because the humans had to react to the plan the vampires already had in place. So it was a mad dash.

According to the movie lore, he worked with the writer(s) and director to come up with a vampire "language" that combined all the harshest sounds from other languages. Also, their apparent motto--"That which can be broken must be broken"--scares the crap out of me. It's very much in keeping with the "No god" belief system, which is cosmic-level nihilism.
