Dude, I've been struggling with my 2 handed game as of late. Realized I wasn't opening up to start and was causing a lot of rotation issues and ball pulling. I went to league and opened up much more to start, and started my push away on second step. I threw the best I've thrown I think ever. Scores weren't real high, but 647 for 3 after a 182 first game that I didn't get practice so started slow. Anyway, thanks for this video, those few tips just changed my game up for the better since I was too square to the line during most of my approach. I think I pulled 1 shot inside all night which is insane.!

Packy, I am a 2 Hander and always struggled with coming up square to the lane. The way you explained where to point your torso clicked with me and on Sunday last weekend I won my very first Regional 700 Club Singles Event! Opening up my hips and offsetting my torso to the next lane helped me adjust on the burn and DOMINATE the competition. I just recently re-learned how to bowl by starting all over and changing my approach, my targets and my backswing... I have only been bowling for 2 Years and I am approaching a 220+ AVG soon. HUGE thank you for your journey and transparency through the youtube channel. I have learned so much from YOU and all of the other gents on here. I wouldn't have cashed without you guys. Can't wait to bowl against you one day! I will make sure to make you sign my jersey when I do!

Excellent video! 10/10 I started this summer bowling for real, with my first ball bought in august and converting from 1h no thumb to two handed and learning/studying from Packy i’ve now climbed up to a 190+ avg in league/local ”play matches”. He’s the goat and much reason for my quick success because of being very rare here in style and being a leftie i had no one to look at or get advice from. I wouldnt say i mimmick Packy but because of him i’ve been able to develop, understand and work with my own playstyle and better myself so rapid. Big cheers ❤

Just found this video. Don't understand all the hate about 2 handers. I've been bowling for 50+ years and have developed arthritis in my thumb that makes it hard to get my thumb out of the ball consistently. Holy moly, I've been fiddling with 2 handed over the years, but never really got proficient in it because I couldn't get enough ball speed. I knew it mostly relied on footwork, but this is the first video I've seen that specifically went over 2 handed footwork this in depth. Calling out the shuffle/hop step is something I'm gonna need to try because I don't think I was doing that previously which would've been limiting my ball speed. Thanks Packy for this fantastic teaching video and even for doing it while sick!

I throw one hand with no thumb and a difference maker was standing at the back of the approach to get more speed when you release the ball. I increased my ball speed 1.5-2 mph which made a huge improvement.

2 handed is definitely the best method. The ball is easier to throw with more power, especially heavy ones, because you're using the strength in both your arms instead of just one, so it's great for weaker bowlers that want to use heavy balls. You get more revs as well, so you'll get stronger hook. I remember when I switched from one handed to two, I jumped from averaging 120 to 190+. Its definitely a game changer.

Switched to two handed this year after struggling very hard with one handed, took me a very long time to get semi decent. For most of spring and all of summer I bowled highest of like 134 and had a bunch of sub 100. Now after a bunch of practice working with my mental game and my throw my highest score was achieved a week ago of 223. And I've been bowling 140+ consistently. My biggest issue is my footwork. I tend to end up quite far from behind the foul line, although yes I do make my steps bigger I still tend to be a tad far back. I may buy a slip on for my shoe but im still working on it. Love the vid packy!

I almost throw 2 handed with my thumb partially in. I start like a 2 hander, but when I get to my 3rd step, my left hand comes off the ball, I keep my wrist coiled up, my left arm for for balance. Some folks say my Rev rate is around 450 but I've never had it measured. My body and arm motion looks funny but, I still average 208 as a 45 year old throwing 15 year old equipment.

Packy, for you, is the unbending of your elbow at the start of the downswing an act of relaxing muscles or is it something you actively "do?" This is my biggest problem - that I don't get my arm properly straightened out and basically "yo yo" it into the lane, which bounces it and severely limits my ability to generate ball speed. I have struggled so much with this that I have been, of late, trying to keep my arm straight the whole way, which is VERY hard to do and which really, really limits the swing height. Any advice, tips, or drills would be awesome. This seems to be an extremely common problem for those of us who have made the conversion later in life!

@dominicduncan1548

yikes. I think you would have to change the speed a lot as you would get much more revs or you can move right. Your wrist comes into play when ur whipping the ball too much so I say just slow down a bit, and let the ball do its thing. You try to throw too fast, the ball can't put in the work at the pins although you probably get a lot of carry because of the speed.

Hey Packy! I've been bowling with two hands for about three years now. The most common issue I run into is that really no matter how I hold the ball, my left hand (I'm a righty bowler) always wants to slip off of the ball so I end up dropping it early. The only way to solve this is to forcefully clutch the ball as I push it back for the wind-up, which really throws off my game because I'm forcing something. Any advice?

Packy, I've got a question. If I'm using a ball that was drilled for one-handed bowling but trying to throw it two-handed, am I going to get a ball reaction that just will not work? I've tried and tried and I simply cannot get the ball speed, and the ball WAY over hooks the lane. It's nearly impossible for me to hit the headpin.
@MikeDCWeld
@MikeDCWeld Жыл бұрын
That sounds to me more like a bad layout for the combination of ball and lane conditions than an issue caused by having an extra hole in the ball. You could try a plug and redrill with a different layout or, if you're someone that likes to tamper with the surface of their balls, you could try polishing the ball up to a higher number.

My question is how to throw it straight two-handed. I have not been able to throw the ball straight even once since switching to two-handed.

I just started bowling 2 hand this year after I found out my arm is fucked and couldn’t bowl a game one handed . I still bowl with my thumb 2 handed.
