I agree. I'm not even sure how I came across the Kush plugins recently, but last night I signed up for the subscription. I'm in the middle of mixing a death metal album (I know, completely not what you'd expect with such organic plugins) but I found the clariphonic to be fascinating and I thought I wanted to throw that into the mastering phase. I'm also planning on using the Goldplate Reverb for a large 24 voice chorus that is in one of the songs. Use that with Waves H-Delay pingponging at different rates and you could have a killer sound.

I said it before, MAN you rock Gregory.. your whole aesthetic about your search for tone and how you make plugins just totally fits my need for tone smithing and chasing the vibe

I was listening to the UBK happy funtime hour and you mentioned how you were doing something in this video that illustrates how to hear subtle processing. I'd say my biggest problem with mixing has been that I have a very difficult time hearing subtle processing and my mixes tend to feel unglued because of that. This video was a God send. Now you've got me hearing .5 db boosts and cuts and tiny moves on compressors that make a huge difference in terms of swing and transient information. I feel like I'm preserving the glue in my mixes while still giving things space and presence. I've gotten so much mixing advice from so many places and many sources really do advocate for pretty exaggerated processing but I'm now finding that these subtle moves give you something much more groovy and natural sounding.

I hear a little bit of what would become Wicked Lullaby. I think.. either way, your music is very quickly becoming quintessential to my rotation. Please release a Sneeky Little Devil LP someday! You are the Jiddu Krishnamurti of sounds, no authority and all nutrience, and the world needs that.

subscribed last night for 2 reasons. 1. you give us so many great videos on mixing ,thanks , 2. these plugins are so much different than most companies and are amazing tools to make new sounds that other plugins can't .

Should have called it Kusher! Need a plugin named after the Sour D name...next one? haha Wonderful plug! Still lovin' and using Clariphonic Mk2 on every single mix for the last 7 years or so (well mk1 for the first bit)! On master bus (always) and on individual elements in the "pre-mix tone shaping" phase. Keep up the outstanding work!

Hi Gregory! I am a subscriber, and I love the "musicalness" of your stuff! I have one quick question - you refer often to "movement" on the drum sounds, usually in tandem with discussing release. I have to say I have no idea what you are actually talking about! Could you describe it, or even give us a video lesson in what movement means to you, how to alter it, and why it matters?
@TheHouseofKushTV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I recommend watching my “how to hear compression” and “parallel drum compression“ videos, I go into a lot of detail regarding how compression affects the movement and shape of the groove :-)

Hey Kush do you have a bass guitar recording video. I'd like to have good sounding bass to send to band mates..

Yes, definetly. I find getting a good bass sound in the mix to be difficult. Maybe a bit of distortion is the answer.
