Omg thank you for this. Both mine and my sister's switch didn't want to connect at all and this helped so much. I had to change both my ip address and the dns for it to actually work. Also I used Google's dns cause I found it to be way faster with it. But thank you again!

Manually entering the DNS worked. It would connect to the router but failed to connect to the internet for some reason. Me and my daughter's switch for some reason. I would blame the our internet if it wasn't for the fact that literally every other device have no problems connecting.

So my switch will connect successfully to my network when I’m in the settings, and it shows the WiFi bars in the top corner, but when I try to load the e-shop or play online, it fails. Last night it worked fine, I played Mario kart 8 online and have a whole year of my Nintendo online membership left, but today I updated my switch and now it won’t load anything internet wise

Same here. I can connect to my network and the internet. However when I test or go to e-shop it does not work yet wifi is still connected in upper right hand corner. I have 4 kids and the other 2 consoles and switch lite work perfectly. It is just this one switch that sucks.

Hey if anyone has a PS4 (this might work on Xbox too) use the console and go to "view connection status" under internet settings and fill in everything you see on it into your switch (also add 20 to the IP address like in this video). This worked for me and now my switch has a strong connection. Hope this helps!

If you have the problem at a hotel you can’t get the splash page to open. Get the IT number from the front desk. I didn’t think it would work and didn’t want to ask but I finally did after trying everything. I walked in a blizzard for an Ethernet cable just to have front desk give me a number and within minutes I was online.

That's my switch's local ip address. Just how my router identifies my switch on the network. So its not my real ip and no one outside of my network can do anything with it. I didn't blur it out on purpose.

For the future people: none of these tips worked for me. I did some searching and someone mentioned changing the channel of your wifi down to below 149 and that's what allowed my switch oled to find my network again. I'm still unsure as to why it suddenly disconnected and couldn't find my network all of a sudden, but definitely give this a try if the above tips don't work (I tried all of these 4 years ago when i first got my normal switch and it worked so the information here is absolutely valid.)

i had the same problem and i had to factory reset. i tried to contact nintendo but they said they couldn't do anything about it. i would only factory reset as a last resort. you should try to do heavy research and if nothing works you might have to factory reset.

If it connects then you have to go to your internet provider and open the app it may have been blocked and you just have to unblock it happened to me it connected to 1 and 2 but not 3 as soon as I did that it worked hope this helped

Once you get everything working, go to you your internet settings on your Switch consoles and hit the capture button.That way, you know exactly what to input if this problem happens again.
