Pays to be handy when you own an rv. Never would have thought it would have been so fast to replace the rv sewer gate.

We did not either. But I saw a couple of YT videos and it seemed pretty easy. Thanks for watching

Gave me confidence to do this on my own! Thanks!! Both of my t handles are missing from the valves and I have been using pliers to open them up. It’s not fun! I will be replacing soon now!

Late comment, but I just did this while at a park in GA. I used a bit of Plumber’s Grease to hold the seals in place and then to ease sliding everything into place.

@@chaosncheckt9356 great idea with the plumbers grease to hold the seals. 👍

I (Phil) did this for the black tank last year in Florida. The flushing took the longest time and then making sure I never cross-contaminated anything I touched!
@TheHungryCubanAdventures4 жыл бұрын
I agree, washed and cleaned everything well. 👍

Good job! Impressive pace! Clearly you are now NASCAR PCQ (Pit Crew Qualified)!!! Have to go now- headed out to my rig to measure mine and order spare valves for our trip to the Keys this week. I'm a bit worried as my valve bolts are rather rusted up. Have to soak them well ahead of a project! All the best Joe and Joy M

PCQ Poop Crew Qualified is more appropriate. Lol 😂 enjoy the Keys. I grew up going there every spring for lobster season.

Nice job getting it done so easily. Is that a tank level indicator in your wet bay? I sure wish we had one in ours. It would make tank flushing so much easier.
@TheHungryCubanAdventures4 жыл бұрын
It is a tank indicator but they don’t work. 😢

I would still use rubber gloves regardless that the tanks were emptied.😊. Also its easier if you removed the black water waste gate valve. No chance of pinching the gaskets.

I wish mine were right out in the open like yours are. Mine are under the rig, inside of an insulated enclosure. The access hole is two feet away from the black and gray valves (who does that?) which makes it completely worthless. I had to cut a new access hole and even then I have to be a contortionist to reach two of the screws. After the old valve is out and I'm trying to slide the new one in I can't really see the gap well enough to know if the seals seated properly or not. What a royal pain.
@TheHungryCubanAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Wow I am glad mine are accessible. Sorry you had to go through all that.

It looks like the same value on the black tank. If one broke should you expect the other to break? Maybe replace it or have a spare ready?
@TheHungryCubanAdventures4 жыл бұрын
I thought about changing them both but they are pretty easy to get like at Walmart.

A smidge of dielectric grease on both sides of each gasket helps in assembly & seal. 🍻

You can actually just replace the handle, you can even get metal ones.
@123seaoats9 ай бұрын
That was my first thought. I spent $4.99 on a new handle. It was plastic, so I just drilled out the hole big enough to slide over the valve stem and put a nut on it. Stronger than it was before.

Hello brother hope you had a great holiday season with your love ones. Is there some type of sealant required to prevent leakage? Thanks Ivan
@TheHungryCubanAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ivan. Happy holidays to you. No I did not use any sealant. The gasket and the tight fit makes it very easy to replace.

Now imagine your valve is in a fiberglass box with absolutely no clearance to work. You are lucky everything is wide open. Thats why you can do this job in a few minutes and make it look easy. Try this on a 2014 Forest River Lexington.

@@TheHungryCubanAdventures I was referring to putting silicone grease on the seals before you tried to insert the new valve between the flanges. Makes it much easier.
