Nice review ,, I already own one that I haven't really had a chance to use yet partly because I got lazy and didn't want to take the time to read the manual but after watching you go through the setup and test I'm eager to go out and try it for myself, thanks for posting .......

Well, I fixed my Tek-Point. I figured that for some reason the batteries are not connecting with the terminals inside the housing. So, with MacGyver like reflexes, I put about 1/8 inches of folded foil between the batteries and the cap. Presto! We have power. Funny how the dreaded foil saves the day.
@thehuntergt6 жыл бұрын
setwave Sweet...glad ya got it fixed. I would still send it in though. Not only do you get a new proper one...they can investigate what went wrong hopefully.
@setwave6 жыл бұрын
I took a closer look at the cap. The spring seemed to be pushed in. I simply pulled and got it back to a functional length. It's as good as new. Should it fail again before the warranty, I surely will send it in. i tried detecting this morning without the pin pointer, I sure felt helpless out there. Like being lost with out a compass.

Got my t2 for Christmas and went to the beach detecting yesterday, I found 78 cents and was thrilled to death. I thought I'd find lead sinkers but only bottle caps and the change. Does the t2 pick up lead and gold? There's a scale on top that goes through iron, rocks, nickels, bottle caps, and quarters, gold and lead aren't on the scale so now I'm wondering if it will pick them up, if it does, where on the scale across the top will they be? Thanks.
@thehuntergt7 жыл бұрын
It will absolutely pick up lead. It is usually in nickel to zinc range depending on the size and shape of it....but can travel into the silver range if big or round enough. Lead is one of the more pesky items and can trick a detector fairly easily.

How strong is the vibrate? Audio seems kind of weak like a MI-6 or Pro-find.
@thehuntergt7 жыл бұрын
It actually has a strong vibrate similar to a cell phone or game controller. I can hear the "whir" of the motor pretty well. I also wish the audio was just a bit louder. That was my biggest complaint during testing. I shot this with my cell so not the best microphone.

Hi HunterGT ! Very informative video. Look like a nice unit but 20 led levels, and 16 freq shifts ? Too many. With variable audio or vibration ,why three sensitivity levels? Take some off and knock off a few bucks. What were you using before ? Once set up , did the Teknetics do anything different than your old one?
@thehuntergt7 жыл бұрын
Pulse induction pointers can tend to interfere with VLF detectors. They have to have the shift. With this one I never had to even use the shift. It did not interfere at all. The LED is something you can just leave how you like and never touch it again. It saves the setting. More options always wins compared to not enough. :) Compared to my Makro and Garrett...this has an inch + greater depth...and also does not false like BOTH of those do on their high settings. Low/Med/High is a pretty standard sensitivity setup for PP's.

I like the pinpointer a lot, but it started to randomly beep. I thought it might need a battery change. After changing the battery, it failed to power on. I've tried several new batteries. I think I'm going to have to send it in. I've only had it a month.
@thehuntergt6 жыл бұрын
I would perhaps try another set. I've yet to hear of one not powering on. Unfortunately, odd things can happen with new releases....and even products that have been popular for years. First Texas has one of the best warranties and customer service departments. They will make it right.
@setwave6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. Yeah, me too. I think I'm the only one this may have happened to. I've been searching around for a remedy I can do. I just installed new duracel batteries and still, dead. It has not been dropped at all. I'm confident First Texas will assist me, I just like trying to figure out how and why it was freaking out and if I can fix it. If I have to get a new one, it'll be through you. Using your code. I've been hunting here in Blythe. A town practically in the middle of nowhere. I must say, you're vids have inspired me. I've mad a few myself. It's fun to share this hobby.

Sorry if I missed it, but is this an end sensitive pinpointer like the TRX, or a 360 degree like the Garrett

360 degrees. Although the tip is the most sensitive part and will ratchet the beep faster than the side will.

Will this pointer filter out iron trash in the hole?Is it a positive when it detects so deep if it does not tell you what kind of metal is in the hole?
@thehuntergt7 жыл бұрын
No it does not filter out iron. My large detector already does that so it's not really a negative to me. It's a fairly simple procedure to retrieve a target from a dug hole even if it has nails in it. I have never once sat back and said "boy I wish my PP had iron disc". To each their own however. If other guys like that more power to them. Happy Hunting.
@ronralphsson72967 жыл бұрын
The reason I asked was I have a Garrett pin pointer. On more than on a few occasions there was iron close to the coin and I was just as likely to dig out the iron first.But I always recheck to make sure everything is out of the hole anyway. Thanks for answering me. have a good evening.

Daniels channel it jumps all across the scale sometimes, in coin mode. I can't tell what I'm hitting in. Not so bad in the other disc modes 234 and AM , I guess it's the frustration moreso not finding silver along with not really being able to figure it out. I'm starting to want a Garrett .... Def can not afford that. Couldn't really afford LRP... Paying on it by Amazon still . ( Ugh) my quick silver and pro( forgot the name..m did better finding coins when I metal detected than my LRP I think, because I had more consistent , solid tones.
@danielschannel27757 жыл бұрын
Purist Historian I run mine in disc 4 with iron discriminated up to about 18 19 always ground ballance on a clean spot. Check with all metal mode and do it in each section of the permision. It helps. Also the LRP has a very jumpy id on anything past 5 inches I've dug silver dimes that beeped anywhere from 65 all the way to 90. Generally if the signal is tight like a coin and has some depth and reads above a 55 generally it's something good. Relic or coin. I've even dug an indian that beeped like a penny and another that beeped at 41 no machine is perfect at target ID you just have to dig it all and learn the machine. And as far as finding silver is concerned it's 90% research and 10%luck. And I wish you good luck!
@HolladayBibleMinistry7 жыл бұрын
Daniels channel ok, I don't get what you mean by checking with all metal mode... I think I may, but may have to splain it to me lol. I never seem to find and good clear spots for GB. I just recently started using the other GB avaiable disc. Modes. My darn pin pointer on the LRP doesnt always work most when I need it. Seems I get alot of false signals and I'm not sure if the target is dead center or behind or in front of the coil. ... like I said...deens I did better with a less expensive machine, but then again didn't find silver then either... likely wasn't in right place . As you said 90/10 ...I don't believe in luck though 😋 if it wasn't for the Garrett pp2 I wouldn't find much of anything.

Very nice review of the Tek-Point I have often thought about looking into one and landed here to view it, I am a bit on the fence with teknetics as I have a t2 ltd for about a year now but I now have permanent little black deals on the screen like dead pixels, the machine works fine but is sometimes aggravating to see like twenty dead pixels black marks on the screen that never go away, so not quite sure what's up with that Plus another sore thumb is the reason I bought the t2 ltd is that it was advertised as having a back lit screen when in fact it does not what so ever and I like night hunts, now that advertising is gone on their main site but other retailers still advertise the machine as having a back lit screen SO you got to ask yourself Why would a company advertise a product having a particular feature when in fact it does not? But maybe the pin pointer is a better different story and is great, still on the fence just a bit, the trust in quality and honesty has been disturbed.
@thehuntergt4 жыл бұрын
Whoever made the advertisement for sure screwed up. No doubt about that. It is the F75 that has a back-light. Any dealer still having that info up is for sure incorrect. If still under warranty, the dead pixels should be an easy fix. They have a pretty fast turnaround. I can say I have personally never had an issue with my Tek-Point or other Teknetics. So far so good....but I would totally have a sour taste in my mouth if I was in your shoes. No doubt.

Why would you use a T2 from Technetics for a test!!! Thats not fair and serves no real purpose...
@thehuntergt4 жыл бұрын
What does fairness have to do with anything? Should I have used an Equinox - Anfibio - Simplex - Apex - Vanquish that were not even released at this time in 2017? Should I have tested it against 10 other brands I didn't own? Many Teknetics T2 users bought this pointer to stay brand loyal....they probably liked having that info other than..."it works with X brand". So there is your "purpose" and "fairness" all rolled into one. Take care!

@@markholbrook3949 No worries. I apologize for my blunt reply. Happy to hear you are liking it. Tek-Point (F-Pulse) and the PulseDive from NoktaMakro are 1 and 2 in my opinion. The frequency shift they both have is key. Makes them usable with "most" detectors I have come across...especially the Simplex which is known to not enjoy certain pointers. I would not leave home without one or the other in my bag.
