I have been hunting for 35 years in Pennsylvania, and you can learn something new from every video by THP. Greg simplifies the approach to his hunts. Explains the why. Love that. Archery has started now in PA. Love it!!

Finding the shed off of the one you missed last year is pretty awesome, especially for not being in your home turf. The one buck also looked like he could have been the shorter tined eight that came in close last year and spooked. Building history and making memories in that spot.

When I was 17 I put up my hunting gear and stopped hunting. Not sure why really. A couple years back I decided I wanted to get back into it. I currently live in Md and have an amazing father in law in pa who helped get me back into hunting. Shortly after deciding to get back into I was searching g hunting videos on KZbin and 5ths Hunting Public was the first video that was up. I have been hooked every day since. Last year was the first time I went back out. Only had a buck license and could only go a few days in rifle season. Didn’t get anything but had the time of my life trying. I decided this year I want to go all out. Yesterday was the first day of archery in Pa. After 21 years I got my first dear, it was just a doe, but it was an amazing day to be back in the woods. I got it hanging from a saddle stand (tethrd) which is the best thing I have hunted from. Thank you for being such real people and making such quality videos. It has kept me pushing to find the time to get back out in the woods. I asked my self 100 times on that first day 2 questions. WWTHPD? ( what would the hunting public do?) WWJS? ( what would jack say), that’s my father in law. Keep up the amazing REAL content, it makes all of better hunters and better people. Thank you! Now time to find a buck!,,

Dude that is an awesome story. Ive recently got into bow hunting because of thp. Ive killed deer since I was 12 but ill never get used to being out in the woods with nature. I hope I never lose that leg shake when I see a giant buck walk through the timber. Its just one of those things you know.

I agree he is way up there in his knowledge and he sepf films it all. True talent. I wonder how much of it came from his mid west whitetail days, I recently stumbled acrossed a few of his older hunts from back then

I've heard guys talking down the production quality of THP. You could argue that the more raw look of their channel is just there style and doesn't indicate a lack in quality, but when Greg is self filming you don't have to worry about that at all. Which makes it even more impressive. If you've self filmed a hunt before vs filming someone else, its a great difference.

I was stationed less than an hour from the Black Hills (1998-2002), and its was hunter's paradise. I preferred to stalk hunt near road access. Unlike the swamps/woods of Florida, It was so beautiful that I could care less whether I got into bow range. I guess I was more of an armed hiker than hunter. There were no bears that I was aware of, but there were mountain lions. Once, I saw mountain lion tracks on top of my boot prints as I was backtracking through the snow to go home.

Here in Virginia, I have several of those winter berry bushes on a creek on my property. The does and fawns hit it like crazy when it first ripens in September, but as soon as it starts to change color to a paler red they immediately stop eating it. That happens to coincide with acorns dropping usually so I don’t know if it is because they like the acorns better, the berries taste changes enough, or a combination. I’ve seen does and fawns spend 20-30 minutes eating those berries easily before moving on. It is a great early season food source here.

New hunter question here. I am genuinely curious as to why Greg didn’t try to call to the bedded buck and the buck that was walking past before the elk came through? Was it because he was in a tree and couldn’t make ground noise? Or just the wrong time of year?
