Adding to y’all’s recent podcast about bumping deer. Growing up in south ms we started (and still do) hunting with hounds. We would literally run a buck out of the county and never catch up with him and have to catch the dogs off because they had ran him into a place we weren’t allowed to hunt. The bucks always came back to where they were jumped from. I just thought it was cool to think about during y’all’s discussion. Even if you do “run him out of the county” there’s still a good chance he’ll be back at some point. Ms state deer lab has some cool research post on bucks they’ve radio collared around the state the last few years and how bucks range and react to hunting pressure. Some pretty cool stuff to read.

I’m born and raised in New Mexico and have been hunting public land my whole life. It’s been a few years now since I’ve hunted New Mexico because the military has kept me away but I dream of the day I can get back in those mountains. I may be biased but I truly believe NM has the some of the toughest hunting in North America and I’m proud of that…. My only tip is to stay as far from the roads as possible and the roadless area filter on OnX should be your best friend, good luck!

@timbow503 жыл бұрын
Try antelope! They are usually where there's little to NO cover. If you're lucky there's some rolling plains or drainages. Muley's are smart too but IMO a little easier in the long run. Either is a major challenge and a bow hunter does themselves proud to get within decent ( 60 yards?) bow range. LOL- then you've got to make the shot. Of coarse it's not an issue when rifle hunting- if one knows how to shoot lol???

With sun screen, if you need it you need it. Besides yous guys sent control is to play the wind, not sent elimination, reduction, cover, so there's that. It is so beautiful country, but looks tough as all heck to hunt.
@hoyt15flhtk823 жыл бұрын
Sun screen is a smart thing to do nowadays!!! The unscented kind is naturally the best, which never is totally unscented by the way. As most so-called unscented are. There is always some scent given off that isn't natural to a wild animal just from the ingredients/chemicals mixed together. Its just our noses aren't keen enough to detect any. But being smart about your health for the long term is the smartest thing a young person can do these days. So in the end when your still healthy due to the early prevention later on in life. It will be all worth it when your out hunting and the skeptical guys aren't due to illness/injuries. Its to late for me now being in my late 50's to worry. Cause I beat up and broke bones in my body without medical attention. Now having hip replacement,shoulder reconstruction,bad ankles from cutting off casts,and on an on. So no matter what your followers say or razz you about your health practices. Keep them going and you'll have the last laugh in the end. Love what you guys are doing and keep the AWESOME video's coming with the adventures!!! GOOD LUCK HUNTING TO EVERYONE!!!!!
