The key to this hunt was being patient and letting the turkeys come to you. Don’t over due your calling!

Boy... last year was my first year, and I got close thanks in large part to learning from THP. I was stoked for this year, but I wound up missing out due to the birth of my second kid. So I'm not complaining. But to Patrick's comment, this is exactly what I had been dreaming of since last year. I know deer season is coming up before you know it, but I sure am fired up for spring after watching this one. Thank you all for capturing and sharing this moment.

Was calling to a bird at daylight, soft yelps and rubbing a wing I carry against bark of tree, Gobbler had been chased by many people, but he loved the wing rubbing and was gobbling hard. A torrential downpour came and I was soaked through even my underwear. I went home and came back about 5 hours later. Found the hole in logging road where my decoy had been at daylight, knelt to put back in same spot, and broke a limb with my knee. He gobbled 20 yards below logging road, and about blew my head off! Busted him. He had pinpointed my location, and had just came in 5 hours later. One of my favorite hunts ever. Their skills of pinpointing you are amazing,

Born and raised in Central KY. Remember when the first ever Turkey Season was opened. Thank you guys for what you are doing to help forward turkey research in KY and everywhere. I have said it many times, if it was not for turkey hunters and hunters in general they would be no turkeys to hunt. I can remember the first release in my home area of turkeys. Bought and paid for by funding strictly from hunters. I was president of the local NWTF chapter for few years, and not a finer bunch of gentlemen, hunters, and all around good people. I am getting older and hope that the younger generation carries on the torch. Which looks like you guy are. Thanks

Great hunt and even better info. No need to call until set up in ideal location of where you want to call the bird to. Otherwise you risk the bird staying on the limb forever or going to the location you started calling from, instead of your final setup.

Not sure I missed this episode, but I was working while it was playing and just heard drumming. I stopped working and listened. Very good video and exceptional audio. I killed a banded gobbler in 2021 that had one 3/4 inch spur and a slick leg on the other. He was banded as an adult on 2/14/17. So, he was at least 5.
