Are all heat pump A-coils compatible with furnaces? Would the head pressure be a concern if you had a high BTU furnace?
@TheHVACDopeShow17 күн бұрын
Furnace btu doesn't affect the coil because if the furnace is running then the heat pump will be off and the pressure will be neutralized / not running. Short answer is Yes in residential, and most (if not all) of coils are compatible with furnaces because in a straight AC environment (no heat pump) the furnace still has a coil on top of it.

What do you think about the Bosh heat pump 18 seer and zoning?
@TheHVACDopeShow17 күн бұрын
I'm not familiar with the zoning I haven't installed one in this application yet but the way it works to my understanding is that it works well because it will ramp up based on system pressures so it won't ice up and you don't have to worry about airflow issues (to an extent). When I attended a Bosch training and they explained the system operates based on a control board in the condenser that checks the temperatures and pressures of both suction and liquid line, and once the head pressure (liquid line) gets out of spec, it stops trying to ramp up and holds that set point... kind of a nice feature so it won't run at 3 tons of cooling if it only has 2.5 tons ductwork capacity, at least that was my understand of how the system worked. You still commission the sizing in the field based on field settings but short answer is I have no experience, but imagine it would work well in a zoned application.

I'm from. NJ and need new HVAC gas furnace installed in Ridge Vent attic. I want a 96% to avoid roof penetrative however some say not a good idea? 96%+ or gobwith 80%. Not as concerned with up front cost however I am looking for maximum comfort and gas savings and even cooling in summer. 1k sqft slab home. Note. Also going with dual system gas/heat pump.

Honestly in Jersey you're probably ok with all electric like a Daikin fit enhanced with a small backup heat kit but you have a small footprint to heat and cool so if you're well insulated the enhanced fit with an air handler is perfect for your needs and you can save on the furnace expense altogether if you want to avoid a furnace. I would call Chris at integrate, he'll advise you more in Jersey but if it's new construction (ground up build) you might have to go 96% because of the laws on new construction. If it's a remodel I think you can still do an 80% but if you're dual fuel with a good heat pump that furnace will rarely run in Jersey, maybe 1 night a year if that? We just had a cold snap to -10F in Colorado and the highs were 5F or colder for 3-4 days and that's the only time your heat pump won't really keep up because the load on the house increases too.

As HVAC contractors… have you had the opportunity to ask the HVAC manufacturers features that need to be fixed?
@TheHVACDopeShow17 күн бұрын
I haven't often no other than through vendors, would like to though and I think part of that will happen over time. Some of these companies are so big and slow moving they're not as dynamic or quick to implement feedback unless it's at scale from all of their contractors, so word typically get's back quickly when there's something that needs to be fixed quickly.
