Heat 4 and 5 weren't bad by any stretch. They were actually pretty good games and enjoyable to play; I believe the only reason heat 5 got flack was because it didn't really change anything from 4.

Okay boys, here we go Pros of Nascar 21 -Graphics overhaul (Easily the best part) -Attempted Cinematic style pre race. -Advertising (The fact I had this pre ordered until they let steamers play the game early should speak to this) The Meh's of Nascar 21 -Rfactor 2 physics (Considering RF2 is known for it's fantastic FFB, and it doesn't work in Nascar 21, kind of a pointless addition. Seems like they just bought out Studio 397 because they knew their physics wouldn't be done in time.) -AI (When it worked, it was pretty good. However, Pitstops and yellow flag tend to rest them to default) The Cons of Nascar 21 -Half baked, half assed career mode. (Expected before launch however the finished product was even worse than anticipated with things like the lack of a rookie stripe, no name on window, no real punishments for just driving like a ass, so on) -Lack of "Nascar Details", IE the things that separate Nascar from every other racing series (No Stages, yellow flag barely worked, black flags/track limits don't work, pit stops were a absolute shit show) -Pit stops (Yes mentioning them twice. Seeing a AI come flying down pit road at 180mph, miss his pit, then drive backwards scraping against the wall as you sit there helpless because you've run out of fuel and the AI doesn't know what to do about that is just stupid. Not to mention pit stops also seem to reset the AI to some sort of default value that just turns off drafting) -Online The "We are apocalyptically stupid and like to fire mortars indoors" of Nascar 21 -Days after this titanic shipwreck of a launch, they announce a "EA Ultimate Team like system will be coming to future Nascar games." Yeah, that last one is the Boeing 747 that broke the camel's back. Motorsports Games can suck my ass if they think it's acceptable to launch this pile of shit, then days later lie to investors and then announce literal MICRO TRANSACTION HELL for the next game. I've been burned like this before with the Payday franchise, and unless Motorsports Games cracks out multiple 9/10 games with no serous DLC and no Micro Transactions then they might as well be dead to me. I was pumped to see Indycar get a game and WEC, but now I hope MSG dies as quickly as possible so the licenses will go to people who will actually make playable games with them.

This wasn't extremely bare bones though, this was just a pile of random bones thrown together to make the wrong skeleton. They set out to make a Nascar game, and ended up with a game about driving Nascar cars, poorly I might mention. Then, to have the gall to announce a "Ultimate Team system" for the next Nascar game... Man, they're almost as bad as Nascar about being tone deaf and listening to the fans and then doing the exact opposite.

I will never understand how NASCAR Heat - the original one from the year 2000 (the PC version, I’ve never played the PlayStation version, I don’t know how different they are) had zero bugs and AI that worked the way you would expect, and 21 years later, we get games that look so much better graphically but play like garbage.

Codemasters definitely handled their game disappointments for F1 2021 much better (they provided a timetable, were honest with the people who played the game, and they fixed the game as much as they could while developing their next game well!) The game is definitely worth its money now and they worked hard to please their fan base and maintain their reputation. Motorsports Games needs to learn from them, otherwise, Indycar will likely go to another developer.

I’ll be honest, I defended Heat 4 and 5, because they were decent games in the grand scheme of things (Evo, 2, & 3 created some anti-Heat bias). Ignition was unfinished, and I would have had no problem with them delaying the game. Unfortunately, they didn’t do that and this is what we get.

There are a lot of people in this community who are way too nostalgic for their own good, and need to understand that not every game will be a carbon copy of NR2003. The yearly release business model, and the gaming community's continued financial support of it, is the biggest problem. Motorsports Games decision to release a product that is so far behind in development, is only possible because people continue to buy these games no matter how bad they are, because they have been conditioned to believe that "it's just the way things are". Until we stop giving these developers our money, nothing will ever change. We have to FORCE them into doing something different, and the only way to do that is to hit them where it hurts, financially. It doesn't matter how much you complain if you still purchase the game.

I wrote an article that I posted on my twitter. My frustrations were basically peaked once MG held their quarterly earnings call last week. It was full of lies by the ceo and president such as the overall perception of the game has changed from majority negative to positive after the release and patches. Additionally they say they have ambitious plans to add something like ultimate team, which no one is asking for, and not one mention of fixing the online format. This shows obvious disconnect and I simply have no faith in them anymore, and that’s pretty sad coming from me.

The hints of disaster were right in front of our faces when the devs were trying to hype up the ISI engine (an engine well known to have unsolved bugs and is just a glitchy mess for oval racing; NASCAR 08,09, rFactor Oval mods).

This game is so bad and with all their customers demanding the game be fixed, they'll literally have no time to work on next years game. The nostalgia was unbearable when I heard the national anthem and saw a flyover on this game. That's a huge positive in my book, and so is the EXCELLENT soundtrack. Such a shame how bad the gameplay turned out to be though. I was extremely optimistic about the whole Heat Series. I love Xbox racing. I can't stand behind this game tho, as big of a NASCAR fan that I am.

Exactly what are the positives that you’re talking about? I bought this game for $90 and as soon as my car cross the start finish line the car would explode into the air and I would end up DNFing. They had pretty menus and no ability to race whatsoever on day one. I legitimately could not play the game at all.

I played the game for an hour. Mainly painting a car. Did two races and didn’t complete either of them, couldn’t complete 3 laps at talladega without game breaking bugs and then the game eventually crashing, worse problem tbh was the steering assist not allowing me to bring my car out of the infield causing me to be stuck there until eventually the game crashed and I refunded it almost instantly

Creating a good NASCAR game should not be difficult. All you have to do is figure out how to make AI cars go around in circles in a way that is realistic. Papyrus figured out how to do it two decades ago. It is astonishing how bad Ignition is. I suspect that the developers got way over the heads with the game engine and there was a lack of leadership to dig them out of the hole. A better strategy would have involved a cheap reskin of Heat 5 to tide us over until Ignition was playable. Instead they lied to users and burnt through any sympathy we might have had for them.

Absolutely spot on. If we treat releases like this as if they are acceptable we'll get more of the same. I made a few videos giving this game an honest review and a fair chance but haven't fired it up again for any other purpose. It's pretty much unplayable for me on PS5 and, without wheel support, I have no motivation to try to squeeze a little fun from the constant frustration and relentless disappointment this game brings. I was around for NASCAR '98 on PS1 and it played better than this.

The way people are making it sound like buying the game will let Monster Games (or any game company) fix the problems or make the next one better shows that they don't fully understand the entertainment industry. A percentage of the revenue from NASCAR 21: Ignition goes to the drivers, teams, and sponsors for the usage of their likeness and logos. Then the employees get their wages and any freelancers they brought in. Microsoft, Sony, and Steam also get a cut of the sales that were on their consoles.

I found a glitch for the career mode. Once you complete the 2021 and 2022 season you cannot start the 2023 season. You can simulate the races but not race them. Whenever you enter a race the screen freezes showing 1/2 a black screen and the other half is showing a wheel and the track. The game is running I let it sit there and noticed a bird flying but you can’t do anything but close out the game and re-enter it. There are a lot others but at some point in the career you have to restart is a huge bug. I’d say it’s bigger than the caution flags not working or the car AI having the intelligence of squirrels. I saw a little kid buying this game and I thought that was awesome. He’s getting into nascar. I overheard he didn’t have internet so I was like that game should be far enough done to not need a day 1 patch. When I got home and played the game without the day 1 patch I felt so bad for that kid for wasting his money.

The only thing I can see happening is that Monster Games with iRacing tech behind it will be back to making NASCAR games in the near future. iRacing has a partnership with NASCAR and could actually come out with a NASCAR iRacing Coca-Cola series game for consoles with a nice paintbooth and there's nothing 704 could do about it......would it lack actual drivers? Sure....but with a badass paintbooth, who cares?

I don't want to say this, but I will anyway. Codemasters should get the NASCAR license too. Not all F1 games have been amazing, but a good chunk of them have been amazing. That or make another NASCAR Rumble game. Loved that game oh so much.

Have bought many nascar games over the years. The only 2 I go back to are dirt to Daytona and nascar thunder 04. Career modes we so in depth in both and dtd was the funnest to drive.

this is a list of gliches ( or just dumb things ) i found when i was playing Nascar 21 1. when low or no steering assist is on , the car turns right slightly. 2 The Ai have no self awareness and i cant come up the track without the ai spining me and doing nothing to try to avoid me. 3rd i cant make small adjustments to my line ( specifically to the right ) my car looses it and crashes

I think the bug for the steering goes both ways (left, right) depending on the track. I think it might be intentional. Although it should only turn left. Normal nascar cars go left slightly for the turns( camber, toe in, makes the car turn while going straight). I believe that the steering is trying to be like real life. Like the cars overheating when stopped on a super speedway because the real life cars don’t have fans for that race.

Even though they’re working with the patch, I am 100% sure that it will not fix the game. I’ve heard some rumors that they’ll be adding microtransactions to the next game, and they’ll never ever fixed those game-breaking bugs. I just lost a faith of modern nascar gaming nowadays. They’ll always ended up in 💩 situation. Better stick with classic Nascar games especially nr2003.

The game looks beautiful so graphically its where it needs to be. The physics should have been way better than the end product has, the stuff like no gas gauge no mirrors is inexcusable and sloppy. I understand that their contract required them to release the game before it was ready, and its a lot more difficult to bugtest and clean up the coding when working from home as opposed to an office, but I find it hard to believe the devs for this game are proud of the product on release. The post-launch announcements suggest Motorsports is moving forward as if this is a completed product and just seems tone-deaf. The ball really is in their court to transform their product post-launch now with patches and updates, which IMO is a practice we see way too often in gaming right now, but focusing on this product itself its clear it needs to go through extensive bug testing and repairs to the basic features of the game otherwise its going to leave this community burnt and lose a lot of customers trust.

the problem with most of the recent nascar games is, for me, road courses. If you go slow enough to make a corner, you get completely run over. And if you go fast enough to not get run over, you will never have a prayer of making the turn and destroy your car.
