Thanks to your videos, I saved my daughters wedding cake. Went to pick it up from a grocery store bakery ( bride and groom didn’t really want a cake, and I was ordering from over 500 miles away) I had ordered a simple 2:tier cake with no decoration. Just white. No cake. So I bought an 8 inch Black Forest cake with mostly white icing, and a 6 inch white cake with a red border and sprinkles. I asked the bakery worker for a tub of white icing, and I bought some tips in the baking section. Took off all the sprinkle, red border, white chocolate shavings and cherries. "bride and groom didn’t really want a cake" I'm not sure I understand what went on here. Maybe you just chose an unfortunate way to describe the situation? Did they maybe not want to spend money on a cake (because let's face it, money is tight for most of us)? Or they were like my husband and I, we didn't care either way and would have been perfectly happy without one. But when one of our guests showed up with a cute little wedding cake, we thought it was a thoughtful, lovely gesture and didn't take offense. I've been to a wedding, though, where they intentionally didn't serve a traditional wedding cake and there was some kind of deep reason behind it (I forgot, it's been nearly forty years). As well as other weddings where some family members or the couple were allergic/had dietary restrictions and it was easiest to go without a cake.

If you are a customer and a company throws a fit over taking the time to do this, you don't want to do business with them; you already know they'll treat your order like an inconvenience. If it's something important, don't do it over the phone if you can help it at all. Or if you do, follow up with an email where you reiterate what was said. Last resort, send an actual letter (if it's really, really important). You'd be amazed how many people will back down when you have even the smallest amount of evidence (and yes, if it comes to that, courts have been known to admit handwritten notes as evidence; doesn't mean it will win the case, but it does make a good impression). Just saw this and I just wanted to add for context. I was a master florist for a long time and decorated many wedding cakes. You might want to let people know when using fresh flowers they must be careful on what they use on they cake. In the store shot you ran your hand over a filler flower, a type of heather, if put in or on the icing can make it taste like cat pee. Many flowers juice from their stems can be poisonous and make people ill. People need to check before one grabs. If one decides to put white olenander in a cake they can kil someone. Also if the flower is a dyed color, like mums will soak up colored water and will change to the color in the water they will release that water into and on the icing and staining it. With silk flowers you need to make small bouquets that are wrapped in floral tape so no bits of wire is exposed so no way any small bit of wire can fall into the cake and someone injest it. Somethings we always made sure so we wouldnt be sued.

Commercially grown flowers usually have pesticides in them and it's the stem that's the issue - if you cut into it and just stick it in the cake, traces of pesticide can go into the cake. This is why cake decorators will use a special flower tape to wrap the stems, or at home you can just use plastic wrap. Just keep in mind that unlike the flower tape, the plastic wrap might stick to the cake more than the flower, so you have to make sure it comes out when removing the flowers.

I love that you use chip clips on your icing bags! I’ve been doing this for years with those same clips!

As some of the comments have mentioned, be very careful choosing flowers for a cake. For example, babys breath/gypsophila CANNOT go on a cake, it is toxic.

It’s definitely giving Ann Reardon’s “Cake Rescue” series in a really good way! I do think that you didn’t quite manage to “nail the fail” (it looks way better than the original) but great video

Great as a 'fix', but don't like the cake. The point was fixing a cake disaster for a panicked bride..... you aced that! It's leaps and bounds better than the first one! Thanks for sharing, this was fun!

The fix fits much better with the pictures the bride used, but I also don’t like the cake. Not my style.

I think sometimes of having a chocolate wedding cake because I'm not traditional and love chocolate. But my vision is still classy. I'd want to use my Hummel figurines (apple tree boy and cherry tree girl)as toppers so the rest of the decoration could be branches with blossoms. The main frosting could be cream color or a light caramel with chocolate borders and piped branches. Then add some butter cream cherry blossoms and maybe marzipan apples. It might not scream wedding, but it would be pretty.

Apple tree boy and girl are really cute! They would be a win. My mum collected Hummel.

I would have “lustred” the flowers, but just with the straight dust sprinkled on.

I don’t think it’s actually food safe to use these flowers. First some flowers are actually poisonous second pesticides third anti mold chemicals. At the very least check the species for poison and wash and rinse the flowers throughly. Perhaps even after what I just said also consider not serving the part the flowers touch. Also watch what you touch and wash hands thoroughly. People getting poisoned fro flowers is a problem. I’d prefer edible crafted flowers also from a safety perspective. Felt I should leave that here…

Use straws or cling film when inserting the cake stems into the cake as people are going to eat it, you can get special pick things for inserting real flowers, some types of flowers are safer then others.

Problem is, youtube and other platforms are getting greedy and paying creators less and less. The only ones still getting decent money are content farms because they can produce an insane amount of crappy videos in a short time.
