Jodi Lynn actually, it Fly's it direct goes straight up, down side to side, unfortunately it doesn't flip anyways like From Tim Burton movie Batman 1989 with Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, and Kim Basinger. Thanks for doing this review, Ryan. I'd seen these for sale on a few websites and was curious if it was a decent little flyer or a POS. Good to know it surpassed your expectations, especially for mid/low-end toy quads. Did you get the camera version as well? I'm curious the video quality.

I thought I had ordered the camera version, for a steal from Kohl's.com, but it was just the non-camera version and their listing was wrong/misleading. :( I contacted them about the mistake (which reminds me to go check to see if they fixed it yet). So, I have not seen the camera version, but honestly I'd just avoid the extra weight and go with the non-camera version and just have fun flying it. :)

Ryan make sure your props pop in all the way. I just got one yesterday and found out you should feel a slight pop when pushing the blades in. I agree I hav3 more fun with this quad than the airhogs tie fighter which is way more expensive. can't wait for the propeller xwing and tie drones to come out.

You probably put the props on in the wrong positions. Refer to the manual... it explains which prop goes on which motor.

I was wondering why the Star Wars and other themed drones didn't have clear props. To me the props sticking out changed the look of the vehicle and could be fixed by just having them clear.

I consider micro quads to be intended for indoor flying, so that is where I fly them. Plus, if I were to film this outdoors, you wouldn't be able to see it on camera for most of the time.

Unfortunately I'm spending more time trimming this thing then just flying it........I guess I need to go somewhere where I get it up in the air and trim it from there? What would you suggest? Do you have to trim the BVS AIIRHOG plane,or can you just go fly it?

You shouldn't need to trim it at all. The accelerometer should keep it pretty level... if you find that it constantly wants to drift to one direction, you might check to make sure the props aren't bent or heavily damaged.

Yeah! That was my first thought... this is the same platform as the Star Wars quads, and it makes me want them even more now. This thing flies so nice! Still not sure about whether or not the Star Wars models actually have brushless motors though. The price difference between this and those is quite substantial, so that may point to the Star Wars models being brushless.

So stressful watching this, considering replacement props ARE NOT AVAILABLE. Ordered a pair of Hubsan props as they look identical, but I have my doubts. It does indeed fly oddly well for a novelty drone! Wish they were better about the parts.

Here's a couple pics from the Batwing drone. I pushed the drone just past its maximum distance/altitude. I was over soft grass so I wasn't worried about a crash. I put orange tape on the nose of the drone to help with understanding its position. imgur.com/a/uDerT

Well, just as an update, I got fleeced by an ebay seller and an amazon seller, both who never shipped any props, but took my money. Great hobby culture, great people... I would not buy this drone had I known, and I will not buy another Propel drone.

That was an actual answer, propel has it in the drone kit that if we join their flight club we should be receiving replacement parts for up to a year and they advertised that too on QVC when they were selling it. So if people need props like I do now, then propel needs to be standing by their product. Why should you have to go somewhere else to buy props and it would be nice to be able to have a second battery!! Call them, email them!!

As far as I know, there are no props specifically for this quad, for sale or otherwise. Propel needs to come up with a solution. I was expecting Hubsan X4 props to fit, but another commenter said they tried that and it didn't work. :(

It's a review, not an instruction manual. ;) Generally, there is a red indicator light on the charger for this type of RC... it will either be on or off during charging, and will change states to the opposite, on or off, when it is done charging.

Great review you are right about it being a great flyer. I was surprised at the price I paid at Walgreens on clearance it was just 14.99 and I figured the quad was cool enough that even if it didn't fly well it was worth the novelty of being a flying bat wing. The pros and cons you noted were spot on. I seen them for 49.99 before Christmas and although I thought they were cool it just wasn't in my budget.I am going to keep mine in good flying shape and just take it out to fly on special occasions but it is awesome.
