I'm a hot mess in this video but there's a lot happening. First off I've redefined this bed (check out the before and afters and let me know what you like better), so I'm sharing how I edge my beds.
Next up, planting the banana! Find out how it ended up here and what I'm planting around it.

There is gardening and there is landscaping. Two different things. I feel like gardening is all about continuous change and growth. Landscaping is one and done. If gardening isn’t your thing then landscaping is the way to go.

I had to laugh when you talked about not having a hard landscaped edge on your borders because of how often you change the lines. I have moved the same 200+/- bricks in my edges at least four times over the years because I keep widening my garden beds while stealing more of my husband’s lawn. 😂 It’s a nightmare, but I love the brick. Thanks for continuing to guide, inspire and validate! 💚

I love the "hot mess" honesty! I have often said, "these KZbin gardeners never look dirty!" They are clean, their clothes are clean, and fingernails are clean! That's not right! It's so dishonest. When I spend the day in the yard, I come out looking like someone who's been living under a bridge for 6 months! That's what gardening looks like! LOL!

We LOVE our banana trees too! Maryland Zone 7A they die back to the ground each year and then start new the next (I actually cut them to the ground so that there's less of a rotten mess). They grow 15-20' tall in a season. They're incredible to watch and the kids love building forts with their HUGE 4-5' leaves. We're all here for the strange garden plants that bring us joy! I've been admiring your red banana and may be adding one to our garden next year.

Internal dialogue of a tropical lover in Wisconsin, “I must not buy a banana, I must not buy a banana, I must not buy a banana! But you did just loose a plumeria and royally screwed your cannas! But I must not but a banana! 1 hibiscus is not looking so promising this year, you do have room for a banana! No! I still have 5 plumerias and 3 other hibiscus and an obscene number of Jade trees! But bananas are so fun! Yes, but don’t forget the jasimine and bleeding heart vine that take up tons of basement space!!! Fine, maybe next year. “ 😂

I was curious about the banana. I put a red abyssinian in a hugeeee pot by my front door about 1 month ago and its already 6 feet tall. It's nuts. It looks amazing but I am going to compost it late fall. I watched your video and no way I am going to try to overwinter this beast. 😀 I have white torenia at its base as well. A nice combo.

I live in South Carolina and we are able to leave our Banana Trees in the ground and they continue to put up new sprouts every year. Yes they are mostly water. Once mine produces small bananas, they die. But I bought 1 many years ago and now have about 6. It’s exciting watching them grow so far North. You are so inspiring to all of us gardeners. You grow so many flowers that won’t grow in our heat and humidity.❤

I was sitting on my garden wagon today and slipped off of it twice into the mud...I was sitting on an angled part of the area and the wagon rolled, but I didn't...oh well. It all comes out in the wash and me in the shower. The drone footage really showed off your idea and I think it will look stunning in the end. Congrats.

But I do love to watch other people push the boundaries and make it work! It also doesn’t help that 20% humidity is about the high point in my home so the tropical plants just die a slow death😂…
