I'm not usually a fan of copy-paste suburban homes, but these are unique AND they look good. I hope they start building medium density buildings with these 3D printing machines soon!

450K doesn’t seem very cost efficient.

They look pretty nice, but I don't see much in terms of cost savings? A new built home here, 3 to 4 bedrooms, with 2 - 3 bathrooms, costs around the same. Built with cement blocks - they are basically a large Lego set. I do like the curved walls but wonder how that works with things like built in cabinets? Wouldn't they all have to be custom built to match the curves? Same for if you want to say, tile a shower. I guess you could just spray a water proof layer over the concrete, but if you want something more upscale - and at half a million plus I would expect at least some kind of fancy tile work in the bathrooms - laying tile in a curved shower would be a nightmare. The one other thing I question is the roof structures. Why use wood if you can use concrete? If you can build a second floor, with a concrete floor, why not a flat concrete roof, with maybe a metal pitched roof over it, which would look nicer, be suited for solar panels, and be both an added layer of insulation and weather proofing. I could see a tornado tearing the roof off the houses the way they are built, but if you had a concrete slab under your pitched roof, you would still have a usable, safe house, with some minor damage to deal with, not a roofless concrete box. The extra cost could be made up for in cheaper home insurance as well as better insulation. Bonus is the fact that very little of the house could burn, so fire safety would be improved. Otherwise, they look cool, very "Deco" style, actually.

"They look pretty nice, but I don't see much in terms of cost savings? " Yep, looks like the cost savings is only going into the developers pockets and not being passed down to the consumer . However that is because right now they are competing with standard built homes, but as more and more 3d printing tech evolves and becomes available it should drive that cost savings down to the homeowners.

We need this in canada. A house like this in canada would be like 1.2 to 1.8m dollars because our PM is on a quest to make the dollar worthless. Only potential downsides i see are costly future renovations / repairs. The electrical is added during construction sooo if you wanted to add a circuit down the line were talking exposed conduit.

450K?! what is the point of a 3D printed house if the house is more expensive than the regular ones?

Not to mention how close they are packed together!

Wall surface is not flat and smooth so the dust will be accumulated there. Wolf Range tax rate is too high. Why the insurance is double if comparing with a regular house? wall is easy to be cracked because of the thermo expansion with the heat in Texas. Please answer! Thanks

if such projects can be mass implemented then its good..coz it would solve issues of housing and other basic necessities

Don’t get me wrong. I think these homes are very cool and seem to be energy efficient. I can’t help but wonder though, is the manual labor cost savings passed on to the home buyer? Plus, they admit in the first 9 seconds, that construction workers have been replaced by machines. I’m all for the “work smarter not harder” mentality, but what will the housing industry will look in 5 years if the 3D print process becomes the new norm for building homes? What will those folks do?

Tesla is in the area. Why not partner with them for solar roof tiles instead of solar panels?

That crazy it should be cheaper instead they raise the price up on 3D printing homes it is differently not worth the price tag only a sucker will fall for it

I love how the homes are five feet apart from each other. Glad we got rid of the human jobs and gave them to robots. Greedy developers at their finest

It's only concrete. What's futuristic about that?
@Treeman1177 Жыл бұрын
Good luck it's all up to the concrete at this point I would not spend 450k on something your not sure will hold up
