... Rural life in the interior of Portugal is quieter, than in the big cities, where everything is faster.... But it has its advantages, where one can better enjoy and appreciate the "little big" things in life. The your property has a lot of potential... Step by step and the dream comes true.... Good work and all the best😉👍

My 21-year-old cat came up the stairs to the side door stepping in the not completely dry stain that had been applied to the cedar boards. He left 7 or 8 perfect paw prints on the vinyl flooring covering the kitchen floor. I love those little prints, even more now that he has passed over the “rainbow bridge.” 🙁

Great progress guys… well done & congrats 👏. I have a question. At 26.31 the drone footage. It seems to show that each gable end of the building is not parallel. The space left for the ridge beam to sit does not look like it will allow for a ridge beam to sit at an angle other than 90 degrees to each gable end. Are the spaces on each wall bigger than the width of the beam to allow for it to sit at an angle on each wall? or do you intend to cut the end of the beam or the walls to allow it to sit at an angle to each wall? I’m so excited to see how it all works out. It’s going to be great I just know it. 👏👏👍

not sure if your carrot seeds were mouldy ....sometimes companies coat tiny seeds(and carrots are very tiny) with something to make it easier to plant them...I had some carrot seeds that were bright blue...also check the back of the packs because some plants grow better if you sow them directly into the place you want them to grow
@TheIndigoEscape Жыл бұрын
No I don’t think so. I think they were just a different variety, I’m not sure to be honest but they all sprouted really well ☺️ I wish I could sow them directly but there is so much land movement at the moment, I want to make sure to finish that work first (pipes, etc) before planting directly.

Curious how well do stone walls and earthquakes get along?
@TheIndigoEscape Жыл бұрын
Not so well actually. That’s why it’s a good idea to add foundations and reenforcement when possible. Also have house insurance that covers it. Portugal hasn’t experienced tremors or earthquakes in a while. At the moment the biggest concern is forest fires.
@surfreadjumpsleep Жыл бұрын
@@TheIndigoEscape Yes that's true about the fires. also very scary. Hi I'm starting to look for a place in Portugal. I think I might consider sort of an outdoor living arrangement. Something with a roof but without walls. I wonder if the authorities would approve it as an official address. A campanista sort of abode. Every winter I'd go to Morocco and so skip the colder weather.
@TheIndigoEscape Жыл бұрын
If it’s only land, that may be a bit of a problem as it’s not legal. I know people talk online (some videos, FB groups etc) that it’s not legal and that’s the end of. In reality, it isn’t. People Do it. There are people living here in tents, yurts, caravans and have been for years and everyone is aware of them. Nobody bothers anyone. As long as your neighbours don’t get upset and don’t call the authorities, it’s okay. It’s not ideal because rural lands are surrounded by forest (and the authorities may not know you live there in case of fires) hence why it’s not recommended but people do do it. Only neighbours will then make police/council do something about it. You can get a land with a ruin (that has exemption of habitation license) and be in a temporary structure while you renovate the ruin. If you explain that to the authorities, in the majority of the cases, they are okay with it. In the Algarve, that wouldn’t fly or near the cities but in central, they don’t mind you doing that, in most cases. As long as your neighbours are happy and you add something to the community (renovating a ruin in a neighbourhood does lift the value of the other houses) then you may be okay. Something a lot of people do it’s camp in properties they are interested to have a good feel of the neighbourhood, that’s totally legal to do as long as the owners are aware. Then test the areas. Morocco in the winter sounds awesome. We keep on saying how much we want to drive there. Absolutely love it there
@surfreadjumpsleep Жыл бұрын
@@TheIndigoEscape I should have mentioned that I am an American wanting to get residency. But I suppose everything that you said about being a legal residence would be the sort of legal resident that I would need for the application. Sounds like I should look for land with a ruin on it that has the exemption? Yes definitely come down to Morocco It's so close. And I would imagine the weather is a lot sunnier. You could buy or build a camper van and solar panel on top and drive around and explore the mountains the oceans the deserts.
@surfreadjumpsleep Жыл бұрын
@@TheIndigoEscape actually I guess what I need to do is find something that has a lot of land and a tiny little house on it that counts as a house. To be honest I'd rather live outside but it also rather not spend my time trying to convince someone that living outside is okay. In a central European countries most people have a second country house. Do these exist in Portugal? Typically they are something small with more land than house.
@melinda5777 Жыл бұрын
You poor thing. I was talking to the video. Tie down or secure the lightweight green house with rope or something. Now, you can make a six foot squared (6 x 6 ft) raised bed. Fill it with Peat Moss(great for germination and water retention) fertilizer (your sister have chickens?) And potting or topsoil as long as you have the Peat Moss I just use garden or the soil you have in that bag looks great. Mix all 3 up in the 6 x 6 ft bed and then all the seeds that got lost when your greenhouse, well, accident, put the soil w/the seeds just right on top and mix them around. Before you know it, you'll have a SALAD!! YA YA YA. HAHA. But for real, I would and have done it. Last year I got my Zucchini and Summer Squash mixed with my Sweet Potatoes. No Squash or Zucchini....but loads of nice Sweet Potatoes!! Yum yum 😂😂😂 🙏❤🇺🇸🇵🇹⛵👣👍🎶🎵 Yall are doing such a great job! I want to help so bad! And Teach your Mum and Elf some Southern Slang!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
