Few things: 1. Recent research suggests saturated fat isn't as bad for you as people previously thought - it's where you get it from (nuts vs burgers for example) that really matters. 2. Here in Britain the RDA of sugar is 90g - although maybe that's just because our obesity problem hasn't yet gotten as bad as the States. Bottom line - eat the right food, don't overeat and don't worry about all the conflicting nutritional information there is out there. Oh, and try not to eat too much sugar.

Agree. However, please remember that carb is a disguised sugar. Carb in our mouth is sugar in our stomach. And not all sugar is that bad. As you said "It's where you get it from that really matters." Think about fructose (sugar from fruits).

I'm not avoiding food because it has many calories. As someone who has (desperately) wanted to gain weight for over a decade, I specifically need high-calorie foods. That being said, just highlighting the fact that many people simply gain weight from fast food and that that's what's unhealthy about it, isn't enough. As a teenager I would consume McDonald's on almost a daily basis because "everyone says is makes you gain weight". But it's still *not healthy*, even for people who can't gain weight. So it would be better if the video mentioned all the other factors besides /potential/ weight gain that makes McDonald's unhealthy: that it can give you diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc. even if you're thin. Calories per se are not inherently bad at all.
@revenant_hunter6 жыл бұрын
PotterheadGeeK7. I feel you, calories and fat aren't bad at all, people just need to learn how to balance it all. But genetics also have a role in this whole weight thing too.

Sea Shook. True, but it can be a hard thing to do for others.
@dualingo36246 жыл бұрын
PotterheadGeeK7 if ur are looking to gain weight I’ll explain that calories are not unhealthy they are simply energy. But too much energy is not always good. A health way if ur are looking to gain weight is eating healthy carbs and starches like rice pasta potatoes nuts. Red meat, oily fish is very nutritious ( salmon, mackerel, and sardines) and a lot of proteins to build muscle. That is how to gain weight healthy which will build muscle which is what u want to gain weight ( muscle weighs more than fat) eating sugar, saturated fat is how u gain “unhealthy weight”. Drinking alcohol has a lot of calories and can lead to unhealthy gaining weight. Unsaturated fat is healthy and is found in oily fish eg salmon. nutrition can be complicated. Hope u the best.

so this is a simple video: avoid fast food. Any of it. Also avoid those stupid diet cleanses and de-toxers, juicing and the paleo diet. Stick to chicken, turkey or seafood (preferably the latter if you can afford it) for your meats. For other sources of protein, beans are an excellent source. Avoid all juices like OJ, Pineapple juice, soda/pop, because even juices are basically drinking straight sugar (this is the same with juicing - you are taking the fiber out when you blend your fruits together to get nothing but straight sugar from your once fiber-rich fruit) Drink water essentially and coconut water. Get rid of diary almost completely. Don't eat junk food/candy/chocolate. Eat salads but DON'T douse it with any salad dressing like ranch, stick to vingeratte and low sodium dressings. and finally, don't do drugs kids ;) and try to exercise at least 1 hour a day. Don't try to make room for your exercise for your already busy life, how about instead of driving to the grocery store that is only a mile away, try walking to it and back every now-and-then :)
@kappadarwin94766 жыл бұрын
You forget to mention that this doesn't work for everybody, factors such as gender, age and genetics also play a factor. Some people just have a lower metabolism.

I think we all keep forgetting: 4kcal = 1g protein, 1g carb 9kcal = 1g fat The math adds quick. I love a good Shack Burger or Whataburger. But you want it? You better plan for it, and prepare to drink lots of water, coffee, or tea, and workout in the day. And don't go often. You can't enjoy these foods *modestly* as some erroneously will say. Slightly misleading, as 1g of fat is 9 calories not 9k calories, if it was, then we wouldn't need oil with all that energy. Same with the protein and crabs being 4 cal per gram not 4k cal per gram. And yes it does add up quick but it all depends on what you eat and what your energy consumption is such as through working out our other high energy demanding tasks
@ggarzagarcia6 жыл бұрын

Growing up in the 60's and 70's, food was a lot more healthy. There was junk food and fast food back then, but most people ate in old style restaurants or cooked at home. School served healthy food. I learnt early to walk past convenient stores and to a grocery store. Just watching what the fatter people ate and then avoiding it was what most people did. In elementary school it was rare to see an overweight kid. High school maybe 1 out of 50 was overweight. Middle aged people about 1 out of 20. I noticed as TV got more and more channels people started eating differently. Back when most people got less than 3 channels they watched much less and therefore less commercials. With increased number of channels they watched more and also started eating unhealthy.

this video is misleading. yes a burger can have 600 calories but you need 1000+ just for basic health functions. So 1 burger some days is not a so bad thing. Especially when you eat normal burgers and not burger king. It has a bun, some salad, meat, chesse, pickle. There is nothing bad about these.

The problem is also that the BMI is not accurate. If someone is 220 pounds or 100Kg is considered fat. But if you see that guy he could be all muscle. Muscle mass is way heavier than fat

Avoid sugar, of any type, including fruits and starchy veggies, and avoid bread. Also, stay away from artificial sweeteners and you will lose weight or not put it on in the first place. These same items made at home might be slightly more healthy but they will still pack on the pounds.
