well if you can't offer help then step back and let the ppl who can help do what they can, if you're feeling helpless and don't want to have a panic attack then i guess thoughts and prayers would help you not to freakout... i look at it this way.. lets say that there is a shootout and a child was hit with a stray bullet both mother and child is at the emergency room.. you have the child thats injured so the doctors will try to do what they can while the mother waits and worry, it would be even worst for the mother to worry soo much that she gives herself a heart-attack giving the doctors even more work to do.. so i think it would be better to the mother to just pray... then there is dealing with grief but thats a whole other topic...
