As a child, I'd often hide my gaze from the mirror when using the bathroom before bedtime. I remember worrying that I'd have a really bad night of I ended up seeing another face it that mirror. I do agree that it's somewhat unwarranted, however, and haven't shied away from any mirror since, (besides some mornings following a particularly "heavy" night).

Being undecided is one thing, having a panic attack when presented with options is another. Don't trivialize other people's conditions. Everyone on this planet has had moments where they simply couldn't decide what to do, what to wear, what to say, etc, women in particular are very prone to this (I know, being one). But being officially diagnosed with a condition is a different matter altogether. PS: In before someone tells me I "missed the joke" and that I'm being too serious.

I have ommetophobia. I am terrified of eye contact and eyes, as in drawn eyes and wide open eyes mostly, really scare me and make me start sweating, shaking, and getting really freaked out. I'm also scared of my own eyes in a way. If I see my own eyes in the mirror or something, I kinda instinctually try to hide my eyes somehow, and I'm super scared of anything going near my eyes and whenever something touches my eyes or even goes near them, I get scared, anxious, and start getting really really glossy eyes.

Talking about irrational fears made me think of something I’ve been meaning to ask. I tend to randomly get terrified at the simplest and least threatening things, like just reading a book I love, or an airplane flying WAY above me, or even just closing my eyes at night. Of course, most of my fears are extremely common, but some are extremely weird, that I’m sure a small percentage have. This has been described to me as anxiety, but I have talked to people with anxiety, and what I have is definitely not anxiety. Does anyone know if this is actually a type of fear, or something else? (An ad is playing right now and I’m utterly terrified because it’s a random man and he’s staring right at the camera please help me 😭)

That rain one...might be me? The sound of rain doesn't cause me panic and sometimes it's very pleasing to know it's raining, but after a while I get anxious and become fidgety. Sometimes I have to go and stand outside in it to settle me down. For some reason I think that if it rains for long enough or heavy enough something bad can happen. It doesn't keep me awake but when I am wide awake it's unsettling.

i knew a girl who had chaetophobia. she did keep her hair, but she never touched it herself unless she kept her eyes closed. me, her, and a few other friends used to go swimming together, and every single time, someone had to wash her hair for her, because she just couldn’t.

I have Astraphobia. The irrational fear of thunder. It’s not because I’ve been struck (I never have), it’s because if it strikes right outside my house, it sounds like a bomb. 😰 I was sleeping when it struck outside my window, and I couldn’t stop screaming.
@JZJ77772 жыл бұрын
When you’re talking about something striking you, you were talking about Lightning, thunder sounds really loud but it can’t strike you.

I believe I had a mild case of Spectrophobia when I was younger. When I was 2 or 3, I used to wet myself because I didn’t want to go to the bathroom because there was a mirror there lol

I am petrified to go anywhere near the drain at the bottom of the deep end of the pool. I won't even swim over it. When I go to the pool, I walk around the perimeter of the pool, locate the drain, and stay tf away. It's even worse if the drain still has an older-style grate over it. Depending on the size of the pool and how deep that drain is, I may not even get in.

I have an irrational fear of driving. I worry about car accidents, running out of gas, etc. It started in my high school driver's ed class when my instructor, Mr. Savage, said that teenagers accounted for the most car accidents on the road. What's ironic about my phobia is, I love cars, especially Mustangs. And I love being a passenger in a car.
