You can't just put leds in halogen lights they are not designed for leds. You need led light housings for it to not spray the light in all directions. It's annoying as fk all these people that don't do their research and blind you in the dark.

For a commuter if your close to work you could probably drive a week on a warm one, so still not bad. Upgrade the pack like everyone is saying and you'll probably double the range. Nice cheap upgrades and another learning experience.

Great job. Looks amazing! Next project for the nissan leaf: install the upgrade battery 62kw. I guess the battery itself it's not that expensive but the labor is. DIY the job and have yourself a long range leaf.

been looking at getting a 2011-2012 leaf lately. Once you look a newer years, its kinda hard to argue against getting a new one with the incentives and rebates and all (and better range). Like 11/12, 18, or new 21 from dealership. Personally don't plan on doing black wrap, but also like the unique blue look (maybe some kind of honeycomb pattern over all/parts of it). If i get one, will be updating the lights to led tho. Thanks for providing a current view on having bought and driving an old leaf.

I never like the look of that car from day one, but I ad to admit the cosmetic touch you did just make me change my mind! It's beautiful now! The 40 mile range is a bummer but it's OK for local "grocery" ride. There is a 40 KW swap out there, but this almost cost what you pay for that car ! My next pick if this was mine? A set of "cheap" MTX black widow wheels :-) Well done again Kid.

When you change bulbs like that, you should also get a new plastic cover for the bulb. The non-LED cover (idk if that's the right word. The part of the light you can touch from outside the car when it's all put together lol) has a lens effect that brightens the halogen bulb so it can be better seen in different conditions, etc. That benefit does not transfer to LED lights. it's not as important on headlights as it is on the brake and tail lights though. That's why newer cars with LED lights being standard look "clear" from outside and the old cars always have that weird "lined" effect going on in the plastic.

I feel like the Leaf needs some serious after market intervention to _really_ update the look. Like some new rims (or dip the existing ones?), maybe drop it an inch or a side skirt? But the resurfaced headlights really standout and the roof wrap, for 65 bucks, is a nice budget style freshener. 👍

Why not put the Leaf motor in the back like the Tesla(can run backwards with right oil pump) and a Mitsubishi I-MEV motor in the front and use a Toyota inverter(duel motor) to control them both ??? Nissan Leaf motors can produce 300bhp when tuned... I-MEV has around 80-100bhp... ???

People must be watching your channel. I actually found your channel when considering getting a $3000 2011 Leaf. At the time there were boatloads of these things for around $3k. Now you can't find any under $4k. Many are for $5-7k which is insane considering how close many are to needing a battery replacement for another $5k.

0.1 extra mile maybe. To be fair the biggest electrical appliance in the car is definitely not the lights. It's the heater #1 (up to 5 kW) and then the AC. What comes afterwards is almost peanuts.

The reason why some cars have black roofs is because they have panoramic sunroofs. Perhaps you should try to install a panoramic sunroof on the Leaf.

We also have a Nissan Leaf and it's range is only 50Km from a one charge due to the battery condition.. So because of that we are converting it in to a hybrid with a Toyota Aqua hybrid system..

Do you really need the front License Plate? I got rid of mine years ago. Makes almost all cars look nice. I know in Ohio they recently changed the law where you don't need it. Though I did it before it was legal. And no cop pulled me over. Not sure how much of a stickler they are in your state. Maybe ask the local station. Since it won't be going further than local with a 40mile range. 😂.

HEY... just the man to talk to. I am a hickster and I have a LEAF too. I want to raise the suspension of the LEAF, put rubber rim trims and convert the car into a mini SUV. Perhaps try get 18" wheels..... BUT !!!! . . . The car has restrictions on any lifting. The suspension has a plate above the tire, How do we get around it? I believe you can use a Nissan Juke lift kit and perhaps even the Juke's plastic wheel arch trim but you only get about 3 inches of lift. . . If you look at the LEAF - I reckon it would make for a great compact SUV. . . Ideas comments?...... Hey if you are going for a "Tesla look".... uhmmm try the Model Y? . . If you want to pump up the acceleration on the LEAF... (and you know of a good engineering shop) ... let me know I got an idea.

My friend it's called plasti dip it's been round for about 8 to 10 years 👍👍 give a 50% covering the first coat leave to dry for half an hour apply a second leaves to dry for half hour third coat apply thicker leave to dry for half hour fourth coat shiny wet leaves to dry for 12hr then use a product called Plasti Dip glossifier to get the thing is you would like 👍👍👍👍👍
