i had the honor of DJing in the same scene as Rennie for a little while, and although he was primarily known for banging techno, scratching, and beat juggling, on certain underground occasions you could catch him playing deep house that would rival anything Mark Farina or DJ Heather were doing at the time... with just a slightly more techy feel.
This track is one of his first releases, and showcases that vibe perfectly. It has a sort of 'grey day next to the ocean' kind of feel, with a killer saxophone solo and a little bit of that tribal feel that Rennie loved so much.
As you can see from the label, the full track is 12:39 long... but that includes the somewhat amorphous intro. This edit picks up just before the beat-centric deep house portion begins. Which is what you want... because it still sounds gorgeous to this day.
Enjoy!
