Yes, but the work is plenty and the laborers are few!!! We get to relax and jam, but plenty of work needs to be done on this here planet!!!! Rest up, but be the light, but don't unwind and kickback too much!!! People hungry, dying for no reason, corrupt government...I lower-cased government cause they ain't my Creator, Yahweh!!! But Yeah!!! Rest, but make a good difference in the World. Bredren!!!

This is my 2-year-old daughter's favorite thing to listen to. Every day she'll swing in our backyard and ask for "Sunbeams please!" Can't wait until she's older and we get to listen through the J Dilla discography together Edit: She's now 3 and this is still one of her favorite songs. We've been listening to Nujabes too this winter, while she does her zoo animal puzzles in the living room.

There is nobody in the history of all music who had the ethic of J. Dilla. To be fully aware of his soon passing, continuing to make "Donuts" on his very death bed, and the songs he used when finishing the album... Dedication is an immeasurable understatement.

@@jamesmurray4312 ["There is nobody in the history of all music who had the ethic of J. Dilla."] -- There's an old Burmese Proverb that sums up perfectly, the sheer ignorance of that statement...."A man with little learning is like a frog who thinks it's puddle, is a great sea". You sound like me black in the day when I was just learning about the world. When I first started listening to jazz, I swore Wynton Marsallis was THE SHIT! (and then I learned about the actual lives of Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, James Brown, Fela Kuti, Miriam Makeba and many others and the unfathomable struggles they had to endure) I would encourage you to do some sincere studying my friend.....You can start with Duke Ellington, who led a band for 56 years STRAIGHT --- during some of THE hardest times a black man ever saw in ameriKKKa.....Playing at clubs he couldn't even enter through the front entrance of. Sure, Dilla truly holds a high place in music. Of that there is no doubt. And in hip hop, I rank him right at the top (and I'm speaking as a person who's generation actually created the genre). But before you open your mouth, try to humble yourself to learn and understand HOW a "Dilla" could even come to be. Trust and know - MANY sacrifices were made for him, me, and you to even be able to BE into music. "the history of all music" is vast son. It ain't just "hip hop". You sound like "the frog".

Find me another who created while unable to say their own name, and continued to create as they died(yes, his machine was still recording when he took his last breath. there's an art to simplicity that I don't think many artists other than dilla really capture. this beat really doesn't consist of more than a couple loops and beats, but they were so perfectly selected that anything else would be a distraction. i've come back to this beat time and time again since the upload and each time I can re-contextualize it to what's going on my life. less is more here.. i'd say

It's a good thing that you're respecting her feelings about music like this, but it might be worth a try to play her some J Dilla later down the line... I've had similar situations too where my music tastes are so completely different from my friends' that oftentimes I don't have many people to share it with. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your dogs, I used to listen to a ton of DnB tracks laying alongside my cat in the afternoons before he passed, and that was the only time I would have on those days to relax... music like this makes that much bigger of an impact when they're gone.

Born and raised from NYC. When I hear this I picture in my mind being on the trains, headphones on, bopping and daydreaming, especially in my teens and twenties. And, then the many times driving on the FDR coming from work in Harlem or from downtown Manhattan after hanging out in the Village, etc., zipping on the curves past 14th, 23rd, then the 34th Street heliport, cross York Avenue to connect to the 59th Street Bridge, heading home to Queens. @@Woter_X Could be so many things, those old consoles and analog gear he used can achieve tons of dense bass sounding. In digital processing I would think in something like a lowpass filter with low slope curve in 60 to 120Hz. After that add some subtle tube or tape saturation and EQ on the root note which I think it's in F#. The real thing with J Dilla is that he spent lot of time tweaking those things and eventually became music himself.

J Dilla is so fucking slept on and let me tell you why. Not only was he your favourite producers favourite producer. He was and still is THE beat king. Without him, so many sampling techniques wouldn't be used. Now lets talk about his drumming. This man changed the lives of legendary drummers Questlove (The Roots) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers). He not only changed hiphop, but changed drumming and African American culture. This man will forever be engraved in my mind when I produce because he is the soul reason why I do it. Don't cry was the first beat I hear where I knew I had to produce. It was the same spark I had when I first listened to Led Zeppelins "Stairway To Heaven" for the first time, and knew I needed to play guitar. You guys need to do a deep dive and really know this mans influence because I didn't even scrape the surface. "He was the beat king" - Pharrell Williams "Everyone wanted to get down and work wit' him" - Snoop Dogg "I just couldn't believe those sounds coming out of that MPC." - Ye (Kanye West) R.I.P JAYDEE BABY 🤍🕊
