If the best investor of all time makes mistakes, it’s a reminder to us all that the market, while can give great rewards, can also cause a big pinch. I really enjoyed this interview

45.00 To me the rising interest rates are a two edged sword for insurers. Yes, right downs on bond portfolios, but the opportunity to reinvest premiums (in excess of payouts), investment income and maturing bonds at higher interest rates as well. Since the right downs are non-cash charges and the change to invest in higher yielding bonds will produce real cash over the longer term, I view higher interest rates as a positive for insurers. Even more so with the recent fall in their prices. Opposing view points? Long LNC and a few other insurers.

precision castpast should perform better if oil prices stay high, as they make jet engines perform more efficiently with no competition so in the case of permanently high oil prices should make the business much more profitable unless travel patterns don’t return to normal

I think Warren would of had a pretty good idea of IBM business especially because he follows the banks which at the time most of the big banks used IBM for their computers & operating system with very high margins over along time but the banks have changed O/S which may over the long time make the banks less secure but time will tell if the banks have made a mistake.
