On Millennial Investing, I chat with Joe Brown about what inflation is, and why it exists in our modern day economy, who the ‘winners’ and ‘losers’ are in an inflationary system, what the primary driver is of the high inflation we’ve seen over the past year, how investors can best protect themselves against inflation, whether stocks are a good inflation hedge or not, unintended consequences of price controls in an economy, and much more! What are your takeaways from this episode?💭- Clay IMPORTANT: Please beware of cyber scams & phishing attacks. Folding the fed in government will have great depression effect just like FDR policies precipitated the depression. The lefties might do it and blame everyone but themselves. I hope not. The government can inflate away their debt along with a healthy budget

Joe’s the best! I love how he has the 2Y treasury yield on his monitor for this conversation about inflation

Thanks Joe. Understanding what is really happening vs what the media/government is saying is key. Own assets, don’t own a promise.

:40 Best clear and concise explanation of inflation I've ever heard. Monopoly is a common example but his wording is dead on perfect

Great Episode! Yeah back in the 70s we had little government debt which allowed the ability for massive rate hikes. I'd say in today's environment anything over 1% and we wouldn't be able to service debts, especially considering the negative real rates currently. Boom Bust Boom and The Four Horseman are good documentaries to watch this episode reminded me of. Also it's not on any more, but goldseek radio did some decent interviews with John Williams from shadow stats, they'd be good for reviewing. One interesting thing to note on Silver in particular vs gold, is not many years back for the first time in history electronic companies started to bid on the open market for physical which is not something for gold. Great Episode, keep up the hard work guys 😎

Price controls are bad. But what is also bad (and contributors to inflation) is the rules and regulations on productivity and wealth creation. For example, land use regulations that limit the amount of real estate that can be built. Some are good and reasonable like most building codes, but others are very bad like single use zoning and minimum parking requirements. These rules restrict the supply of indoor human space and therefore prices go up with increasing demand.

30 year fixed rate debt on cash flowing real estate, is the best hedge. You get double arbitrage debt debasement and asset inflation plus’s cash flow.

@@achilles5197 BTC =\= altcoins. BTC wasn't hacked in 11 years, there will always be whales. The government can't ban it really. It's sound money, better than gold.

@@achilles5197 Even whales cannot increase the supply. Cant be hacked due to enormous hardware and hash power required. Govt cant even ban porn lol.
