I have to read the first ten chapters by tomorrow for my English 1102 class. I tried to read it myself and then i was like i don’t even know wtf is going on or wtf they are saying. You reaction was literally me I was looking for an audiobook because I thought I would probably understand it better, but fuck it it’s 11 pm my class is at 8:20 am i give up on life now

i love this video. i started watching it and the description made me laugh super hard bc i would read it this exact way. i wanted an audiobook bc im a super slow reader and reading along with someone helps. your comment "what the hell am i reading" is exactly what i was thinking the whole time. I found this video hilarious and at least it got me to page 4. good luck to everyone else being forced to read this terrible book. im very sorry for you

well that is how black people from the south talk.. I'm not from the south but black people tend to change the way word sound when we speak like Ah in the book is I, dese is these and G'wan is go on also de is the and wid, git and lak is with, get and like you just have to think about how a person from the south would talk when you're reading it

@Bryn Young no she's not. the author intentionally wrote in dialect to convey how the characters (BLACK PPL FROM THE SOUTH) spoke. obviously not all southern black folk speak that way, but her characters did. she is not severely mistaken, but she did make an immense generalization.
